Our family is back from our first powwow without our mom. (Northern Lights Casino) I am so use to her being there to ask how everyone did and how the powwow was. It was hard to go back to my parents home for Thanksgiving because no matter what time of the night you came in, she would greet you and ask how the girls did. It was just the type of person she was. I went into her room after I got there and I did our little ritual of telling how everything went. We ate with my family and it was good feeling. I would personally like to thank the following drum groups for singing hard and singing some good jazzy songs for our family..High Noon and Rock Hill.."sing for Dee and her family to lighten their spirits"..Always believe in the power of the music because she is jamming to those tunes now.

My son-in-law painted an ever lasting image of my mom. He said that he will never forget how beautiful she looked that day we came together for her - that beautiful summer day. He said that she was standing in the sunglight of the setting sun. He said that she was revelling in the beauty of the evening. And she told him that she was ready and that she wasn't scared to leave. She was ready to make her journey. I don't think I will ever look at a sunset the same again because it will always remind me of her. She was as beautiful as the setting sun - my mom - and I will miss her until I myself see her again in the afterlife.

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all the friends and relatives that came to our aid at this very difficult time. Losing our mother, cannot be expressed, words are hard to come by to describe this loss. But the amount of support our family received showed us all how many people our mother had touched in her lifetime. Many thanks on behalf of myself and my family.

Wally & the Semagnis Family:
While there are words that can ease the pain of losing such a beautiful wife, mother, kokom, and friend, my family offers our condolences to all of you.
On the first day I met her I thought: "What a beautiful women!" She always maintained herself with such honor & integrity. Bernice quietly came into my life and stole a piece of my heart, and in her ladylike style she left just as quietly, with her she took that piece of my heart...I love her and will miss her.

My condolences go out to the Simaganis family. I remember Bernice as such a wonderful, traditional Cree woman that would invite you into her home and feed you even if you were not hungry. She was a very nice and friendly person. Again my sympathy goes out to your family.

To family and friends of my mom, thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful words. It's true that there is no greater bond than that between a parent and a child. Our bond has not been broken - I believe that it has only been made stronger because it has moved from the physical and emotional bond to the all encompassing spiritual and psychological realm. Keep her and your own spirit strong during your round dancing, bannock making and pow wow dancing. Love you all.

I always remember the times she would sit me down and talk to me. She made me understand how I needed to change my life. She was the type of person who would encourage you to achieve what you seen as impossible. She taught me to believe in myself and I am very thankful for all the gifts she gave.

I would like to offer my condolences to my Friend Anita and her family for the loss of her Mom. I never got to meet your Mom, but I understand the loss of a mother, a grandmother, and friend. She is always watching over you, you only need to look for that sign. Each time you think of her, that means she is there, probably right beside you. Take care and God Bless
