Beth Ellen Mayberry Needham passed away on July 6, 2011, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Beth was born in Glenwood, Iowa on March 15, 1931 to parents Ralph and Edith Mayberry. She married her husband, James Needham, on July 12, 1951. He survives her and will miss her companionship, her lovely smile, and her happy countenance. They were to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 12 of this year.

Beth grew up in Glenwood, Iowa and was a proud member of Glenwood High School Class of 1948. Jim and Beth not only traveled the world together, they enjoyed living in many places around the United States, including California, Iowa, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, Minnesota, Arizona, and Colorado. She was an active volunteer her entire life, especially enjoying her long time participation in PEO and her happy times reading to school children as part of the GrandFriends Program in Colorado Springs. Beth had a beautiful voice, which she shared with community vocal groups and church choirs in each of the cities where she lived. She was a great cook, a talented seamstress, and a lover of flower gardens and animals. Beth was a devoted wife and a happy, warm, and supportive mother.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edith Mayberry, and her siblings Margaret Emily Mayberry, Mary Catherine Jackson, Virginia Scott, and J.H. Mayberry. She is survived by her husband, James, her sister Emma Gilson, and her brother Forrest Mayberry. She also leaves behind her children Emily Williams and husband Charles, Janine Young and husband Alan, and James Needham and wife Charlene, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services are planned for Tuesday, July 12, 10:00 AM, in the Swan Law Chapel at 501 N. Cascade, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Private burial as well as a Celebration of Life will be at a future date in Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the PEO Foundation (3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312) or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320, 290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087).
