BORDENTOWN - Betty Ann Burke passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, with her loving family by her side. Born in Brooklyn N.Y., she was a lifelong resident of Bordentown. Betty Ann attended and graduated from the Bordentown school system. She was employed with The Division of Motor Vehicle as the assistant chief of personnel; she retired in 1991 after 37 years of dedicated service.
During her lifetime, Betty Ann had so selflessly given so much of herself to Bordentown. She will be best remembered for being a vital member of the Bordentown Veterans' Memorial Committee. While on this committee she spent many hours researching and certifying names to be inscribed on the Memorial Wall and for them to be carved into the stone panel, she also took on the task of coordinating the engraving and installation of all the commemorative pavers, she developed a grid chart for the location of each paver which assisted families and loved ones in locating their paver. For 14 years, Betty Ann worked on the project until its completion. She will be greatly missed by many.
She was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Elizabeth V. Burke, she is predeceased by her brother, Dr. Edward R. Burke Jr., and her sister-in-law, Peggy Burke. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Donald Giberson, Anita and Leonard Ricasoli, Maida L. Burke, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, with the Rev. Michael J. Burns officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Bordentown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Ann's name to St. Mary's School, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown NJ 08505. Arrangements are under the direct care and supervision of Robert L. Betty Anne was a true Bordentonian and will be remembered by many. I always looked forward to her phone call to remind me of the garden club meeting. Rest in peace, Betty Anne.

Betty Ann gave me my job at DMV back in the mid 70's and was always friendly & helpful in later years. Enjoyed seeing her at DMV Retiree functions and was so sorry to hear of her health issues. God Bless her and her family.

My mentor. In my early DMV career Betty Ann allowed me to attach myself to her and I did. I watched her and I learned from her every day. She taught me lessons I still use today as an HR Manager. I have coined the phrase - just give it a Betty Ann answer. My entire office knows just what that means. Short and to the point, no fluff. I was so blessed and grateful to have this woman in my life during my DMV years. May she rest in peace.

To our nieghbor and friend. We moved for the neighbor hood 6 yrs ago and talk of the maany friends and neighbors and Betty Ann was the one that was the most talked about. Many hours were spent in the back yrd discussing the goings on around town. Nothing was ever solved, but the discussion was great. We have lost a dear friend and neighbor. May God Blessand Keep her.
