Betty Jean Wacker (Thudium) of Wellington, passed away of a sudden illness on July 4, 2017, at Mercy New Life Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to Nile and Esther Thudium on Oct. 7, 1928, and was a graduate of Wellington High School.
For 46 years, she helped manage the family dairy farm by driving tractors and supplying field side lunches during hay and straw seasons. She followed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in various sports and activities they participated in. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and square dancing. She was a longtime active member of Brighton United Methodist Church and its Couples Club group that operated the onion ring booth at the Lorain County Fair and had social and fellowship activities. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as president. As part of this group, she put many hours in helping with the Election Day Swiss steak dinners.
She is survived by sons Clinton (Katherine) Wacker of Wellington and Glen (Lisa) Wacker of Nova; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul (Red) Wacker; daughter, Diana Shearer; son, Donald Wacker; and brother, Lawrence Thudium.
Private services will be held at Brighton United Methodist Church and burial at Brighton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's name may be made to Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Route 18, Wellington, OH 44090. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Norton-Eastman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
