Beverly Benson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 12 to Nov. 16, 2006.
Beverly Jean Cavin Thomas Benson Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother Aug. 8, 1937 – Nov. 2, 2006 ALL I AM OR CAN BE I OWE TO MY MOTHER THE ANGEL IN MY LIFE Beverly left this world at her home with family by her side after fighting a long, courageous battle against cancer. She always kept a strong positive attitude which made us all very proud of her. Beverly was born in Eatonville WA in her grandmother's home and lived most of her life in Tacoma WA. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955 and shortly after married John J. Thomas. Together they started their family of Michael, Ken, Steve and Keith. Her working career started in the Oakland Drugstore and continued as bartender, secretary, caregiver for the elderly, and nanny. She loved caring for babies and toddlers most of all. Mom's greatest passion in life was her family and her dogs, Honey Babe and Esther. She enjoyed late night phone calls and emails, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking (chocolate chip cookies were her best), tootsie rolls, and watching wrestling. Beverly was a past member and secretary for American Legion Post 138. She was also a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed throwing birthday parties for her boys with their grade school friends filling the house with smiles and laughter. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband James Benson, son Michael J. Thomas, her parents Myrtle (Cavin) Forgey and Ole Fred Forgey. She will be missed by her sons Kenneth A. (Loni) Thomas, Steven E. (Julie) Thomas, and Keith T. (Kelly) Thomas all of Tacoma, grandchildren Kristen Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Jordan Fruehling-Thomas, Hunter Frueling-Thomas, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by her special aunt, Martha O'Neil and her dearest friend Mary Lawrenz. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at Madigan Army Medical Center Oncology Unit, especially Rose, Ruth and Barbara. Thanks also to Franciscan Hospice. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Memorial service will be held 10AM November 18th at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park. (253) 584-0252. Please leave online condolences at www.mountainviewtacoma.com .
