Beverly HOPE Obituary
October 8, 1940 – March 26, 2016
Beverly Lorna Hope (nee Tischer), passed away in Sidney, BC on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Beverly was a wife, mother and grandmother, living a full life that was all about friendships, fun, and most of all, family. Bev married the man of her dreams, Doug, in 1962 and they enjoyed 51 years of love and adventure until Doug's passing in 2014. In Edmonton they raised a family, worked hard, took great vacations and hosted a legendary Christmas Eve open house for four decades. Bev was exceptionally proud of her two children, Joanne (Jay) and Cameron (Sara), and she thought the world of her granddaughters, Amy and Jenna. Bev was predeceased by her father Rudy, her mother Bernice, and her husband Doug. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and many relatives.
Bev had a gift for knitting, a keen eye for style, and a maestro's touch in the kitchen. She could cook anything, anywhere, and collected more recipes than she could make in two lifetimes. After Doug's passing, Bev moved to Sidney and truly enjoyed her time there. She drove her Fiat 500 around town, cheered for the Victoria Royals, grew roses and tomatoes on her balcony, and always had too much baking ready for anyone who dropped in for a visit. Her annual trips to Bates Beach (near Comox), and occasional getaways to Hawaii, were really all about spending time with the people she loved. Bev will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.

We were sorry to hear of your loss. Many fond memories of her come to mind. We spent an enjoyable time with with her, Joanne and Grandma Tischer in Hawaii. It was always nice to have her greet and welcome me when I came to Delwood School to substitute.
She was thoughtful in inviting me (Don) to brunch at Grandma's when Elvie and Nancy were in California and Brian and Cam were on a school trip to Europe.

Cam and Joanne, I was so sorry to hear this news. I have so many happy memories of your mom. I recall when she found out I didn't like mushrooms she made it a personal mission to hide them in at least one dish every time I was over for dinner (which, during university, was a lot). At the end of the meal she'd triumphantly announce the unnoticed presence of mushrooms in (inset dish here). I would dispute there could possibly have been mushrooms and the game was on. I never really could tell if she was bluffing or not.
I will miss both your mom and dad but my memories of them live on and for that I feel very fortunate. They always made me feel part of the family.
