Beverly Lynne O'Zee

Beverly Lynne O'Zee, age 78, passed away on August 3, 2023 in Lewisville, Texas. Bev was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 3, 1945. As a child, she lived in Fort Worth, Stillwater, Austin and Fort Collins, Colorado where she graduated from FCHS. After high school she attended Colorado State University before marrying Richard Jones. She and Dick lived in Fort Collins, Greeley, Wallace (Nebraska), Las Cruces and Alamogordo (New Mexico), Topeka (Kansas) and Woodland Park (Colorado). Bev took classes along the way and in 1982 graduated with honors University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

In 1986, Bev obtained a teaching position in Miami-Dade school system and moved to Florida. She taught kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grades at Martin Luther King Elementary before becoming the technical facilitator there, which was a proud accomplishment. In 1990, she obtained her Master of Science in Urban Education degree from Florida International University. She was nominated and awarded a Teacher of the Year award in 2000. After that, she became the assistant principal for MLK from 2000-2004. She was also the assistant principal both at Miami Park (2004-2006) and Van E Blanton (2006-2010) Elementary schools. Bev was loved by her students and respected by her peers.

In 2010, Bev retired and relocated to San Angelo, Texas to take care of her father. She remained in San Angelo until 2017 when she moved back to Pembroke Pines, Florida. Unfortunately, she became ill and needed to be closer to family. She returned to Texas to live with her son in College Station until she needed more care which resulted in her relocation to Lewisville, Texas.

Bev is preceded in death by her parents, William and Juanita O'Zee, and grandson, Elijah Smith. She is survived by her sister, Sheryl O'Zee in Illinois, sons, Michael (Danyelle) in Lewisville, Mark (Lorianne) in College Station, and David, in Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a niece.

A celebration of Bev's life will be held in Florida, where she loved living and where she spent so much of her life.
