Billy Ellis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2024.
Billy Dan Ellis, aged 46, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on September 4, 2024. Born in Hobbs, Billy spent his final days in the city of his birth, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Billy was a vibrant and humorous individual who excelled in every aspect of his life. Known for his athletic prowess, he enjoyed a variety of outdoor sports including baseball, skateboarding, water skiing, and dirt biking. His true passion, however, lay in riding his Harley, a hobby that brought him immense joy. Beyond sports, Billy was a talented craftsman with a knack for woodworking and home remodeling, demonstrating his ability to succeed in whatever he set his mind to.

Professionally, Billy dedicated six years to CNM Electric, where he found his true calling. Previously, he had spent several years working on oil drilling rigs, but it was at CNM Electric where he felt most at home, often expressing his contentment in his role to his loved ones.

Billy was a devoted father to his five children and took immense pride in supporting their interests, from attending football games to traveling for softball tournaments. His role as a father was paramount in his life.

He is survived by his fiancée of 15 years, Bobbie; children Jaryn Matthew Ellis, Madysan Taylar Ellis and her partner Gilbert Valenzuela and their son Parker, Zadrick Betancourt, Zemarie Ellis, and Zoey Ellis; parents Lonnie and Kathleen Voyles; siblings Amber J. Gibson, Catherine Eileen Voyles, and Lonnie Voyles Jr. and his wife Stacy Voyles; grandmother Elora Palmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert and Catherine Meyn, paternal grandparents Gene Gilbert and Ruth Ellis, and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home, 1106 Main St, Lovington, New Mexico, on Wednesday, September 11th, from 4pm-7pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 12th, at 10am at New Beginnings Church, 1600 S. Love St, Lovington, New Mexico. Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home of Lovington, New Mexico is assisting the family with arrangements.

Billy's warm spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of joy, love, and resilience will continue to inspire and resonate with his loved ones.

When we were kids we met one summer when his mother, who had grown up with my mother, brought him to New Jersey to visit. When they left to go back to New Mexico we exchanged addresses and wrote for awhile before life got in the way and we stopped writing. I was very sad to hear of his passing! Rest in peace my old friend

Billy was the kind of man I always wanted to be. He was like a brother to me. We worked together and spent so much time laughing and enjoying life. I spoke to him only hours before God took one of His angels home so it doesn't seem real. Billy, I miss you man and I love you brother.

"Loss of A Friend"
A loss of a friend hurts, The loss of a good friend hurts more. But it is never a true loss; Everyday you will see something that reminds you of them. This will bring a memory; A memory of the times you spent together, followed by another; A memory of how you went your separate ways. They will always be in your mind; They never really leave you. We will ride again my friend.
