Birdie B. Bourque

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 7, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Birdie Broussard Bourque, 87, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at her residence in Lafayette. Reverend Jerry Mesley will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. Anne Cemetery in Youngsville. Mrs. Bourque, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Willie Broussard and the former Bertha Lanerie both of Lafayette Parish. She was a member of Fatima and St. Mary Catholic Churches; graduated from Lafayette High School and the Louisiana School of Cosmetology and she also enjoyed traveling, line dancing, and gardening. She is survived by two sons, Willis Joseph Bourque, Jr. of Lafayette and Donald Lee Bourque and his wife, Patricia of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Stephen Craig Bourque, Karen M. Romero, Elizabeth A. Bourque and Catherine M. Bourque; five great-granchildren, Courtney Romero, Erin Romero, Shelby Romero, Megan Bourque and Stephen C. Bourque, Jr.; one sister, Theresa Broussard Duhon and her husband, Wilven of Lafayette; two brothers, Willis Broussard and his wife, Grace of Sulphur and Nelson Paul Broussard and his wife, Helen of Lafayette. She was preceded by her husband, Willie Joseph Bourque, Sr.; her parents, Willie and Bertha Broussard; four brothers, Ashby Broussard, Howard Broussard, Paul Broussard and Shirley Anthony Broussard; and two sisters, Hazel David and Beverly Thompson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am until time of services at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Craig Bourque, Kenneth Guilbeau, Stanley Guilbeau, Harold Lange, James Segura and Ronnie Thornton. Honorary pallbearers are Huey Bourque, James Broussard, M.J. Collins and Daniel Duhon.
