Brandi Hennessey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2014.
Brandi Renee Hennessey, 41, passed away September 24, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous yearlong battle with kidney cancer. She was born November 3, 1972 in Houston, TX. Brandi was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School where she was an honor student and Colonel of the drill team. She received a scholarship to San Jacinto College where she was the Captain of the San Jans. She later attended Oklahoma City University where she received a Bachelor of Performing Arts in 1996. Brandi went on to pursue her dream as a professional dancer in Branson, MO. She performed with Andy Williams, Mel Tillis, Shoji Tabuchi and many others. She later returned to Houston to pursue a career in Real Estate. Brandi is survived by her parents Wessley and Janice Hennessey-Wong; sister Dana and husband Anthony Hernandez; aunt Cynthia and husband Jimmy Raley; cousin Lisa and husband Ken Freeman; aunt Wanda and husband Carl Reyna; aunt Wilma Hand; and a host of loving cousins. Brandi was such a sweet and beautiful girl with an infectious smile and a heart of gold. The family is grateful to the amazing doctors and nurses at MD Anderson who granted us the extra time we had with Brandi.

It is with tremendous sadness that I learned of Brandi's passing...and with greater sadness as I read later through her obituary and pictures. Our prayers are with you both. Few live their dreams...and it's wonderful to see she lived hers as a performer...on stage with one last curtsey to applauding audience.

Brandi was such a unique person. We were friends in Highschool-friends through dance. It is with a heavy heart to accept she is gone but I know she will be missed and I send prayers to her family left behind.

Janice, Dana and Wesley I wish you strength during this sad time. Although I haven't seen Brandi in years I am grateful for knowing her, her smile and for the many memories we had as kids growing up in Pasadena. I am glad her struggle is over and that her memory will live on with us.

Janice and Wes, I never had a chance to know Brandi but I certainly did hear about her sweet and loving disposition. The loss of a child has to be the most difficult time in a parent's life. I hope you will be able to look back on a healthy, sweet young woman who filled your lives with a lot of joy. You have my condolences and prayers for your comfort during this time.

I've only known Brandi a short time -- since she started working at Keller Williams. But she was such a sparkling person -- full of life and promise and positive thoughts. I have observed her bravery this past year and it was amazing. She really touched my life. On Sunday, before I left Paris, I got up early and went to Notre Dame when it first opened. There were only a few tourists there at 8 a.m. I lit a candle for Brandi -- one of the first of that morning. I'm not a religious person but it seemed like a beautiful way to remember Brandi and her incredible spirit. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

My heart breaks for you, Janice. I hope you can find strength knowing how much Brandi loved you and peace knowing she knew your love for her had no bounds. You definitely held her hand and her heart forever. That is your mutual gift to each other and it will be yours to hold dear to find your way through this difficult time. Heaven is a better place today.

I had the pleasure of working with Brandi at Express for a couple of years while she was still in high school. I remember when she made Colonel of the Tex-Ann's, she was so excited. Brandi was kind, gracious, and always had a smile on her face. I always thought Brandi was very wise, an old soul. I know she is dancing in heaven. I will continue to pray for Brandi's family for strength, healing, and peace.

Brandi, was always an inspiration being a year younger in school than her it was ability to dance so gracefully, her fashion sense way beyond Sam Rayburn High School (believe me this is important to us that love to express ourselves through clothes like Brandi did well. She was the trendsetter.Plus, she was darn sweet with all that pretty. That is just WOW! When, I learned that she became ill and followed her on caring bridge she became my hero and inspiration.I am still in awe of her bravery. We were never close friends but I can say we were casual friends if we saw each other but she became so much more to me...I have a disease I am fighting and Brandi helped in her writings, personality to put that fight back I in me. MS..Hennessey thank you for giving the world the gift of Brandi.,She touched so many life's in living and in her passing. I am so very sorry for you and your family's loss.I pray that God's peace and strength surround all of you and one day in Heaven I will get to tell Brandi how she made me not want give up!. What a blessing.and joy you had there. I would like to make a donation to the Cancer Society or MD Andersen in favor of flowers if the funeral home knows your preference I would prefer to do that in Brandi's name!God Bless, Sally Lang Beam

Beautiful, kind, classy, elegant and stylish are the first words that come to mind when I think of Brandi (and what a great dancer she was!) Brandi will be missed so much and I'm thankful and blessed that I knew her. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Brandi was my inspiration as a young dancer. The first time I saw her dance, I knew I wanted to be just like her. Her passion for dancing is why I'm a dance teacher today. I have never forgotten & will always remember her last solo at Rachal Dance Studio. She was wearing white & danced to "Don't let the Sun Go Down on Me." Brandi lit the stage up with her grace & boundless talent. I will cherish a picture I have of you from my 5th year of dance. Thank you for the inspiration Brandi. Prayers & peace for you & your family.

I was Brandi's roommate my senior year at OCU. We met up again when we worked the same show in Branson. She had a remarkable way of making you feel very special by paying you the smallest of compliments. I regret having lost touch with her. I will keep her family in my prayers.

I've known Brandi since high school. One of the fondest memories I have of her was when i sat across from her at the Senior tea, admiring her beauty and style. She had a gorgeous polka dot dress that resembled mine, and I remembered how excited I was, that we had on similar dresses. I always admired her kindness, grace and style. I will always remember smiling at her that day, and her sweet response was an amazing smile back. RIP sweet Bradi. I'll never forget you!

I'm a dance teacher because of Brandi. I looked up to her from the moment I saw her dance at Rachal Dance Studio. I was very young & knew I wanted to dance just like her. I cherished a picture taken of us. I missed her deeply after she danced her final solo for Rachal's. She was wearing white & did the most beautiful dance to "Don't let The Sun Go Down On Me." A dance & dancer I will NEVER forget! I'm still a fan. Always. Thank you for inspiring me Brandi. Prayers & thoughts to you & your family.

Brandi was sweet, generous, honest, and tough as nails. She was dancing for a show in Branson where we worked together. I always enjoyed her hard work and can-do attitude. Her latest challenges could not beat her fighting spirit. We'll all have the last laugh when we see her again someday.

Brandi was a kind and generous peer who always took the time to help others who asked but was humble enough to ask for guidance herself. I was lucky to have met her through Bath and Body Works, but blessed to have known her at all. God continue to watch over her and those who love her.

I was one of Brandi's Gamma Phi Beta sisters at OCU. I will always remember her full of smiles, laughter, and fun. The world lost a bright light far too soon. May God comfort her family by knowing that she was loved by many and left happy memories with all who knew her.
