Brenda was special. She was a bit of a role model and mentor to me. When I joined the Edmonton Olympic Club she was the star performer; setting records and travelling the world. The intervals were always more bearable with Brenda around.Brenda showed me how to win with humility, lose with grace and put life in perspective.

Brenda, like many others has had a huge impact on my life. She certainly lived her J.E.H.L philosophy and I am so grateful to have known her and had her as a mentor through the tough years. There are many things I do to this day because of her. She is truly an inspiration. Thinking of her family and sending love.

What an amazing teacher, coach and mentor. Brenda was my coach at Kenilworth back in the early 90's...from her encouragement and enthusiasm on and off the court she has left such an impact of me - and she always signed off with a mean long limbed stick person ❤.

Brenda was a cherished junior-high and high-school buddy. As we struggled to make our way as young women in the world she often made me laugh out loud and I admired her tenacity enormously. In recent years I looked forward to our yearly visit in the beer tent at the Folk Fest. Her energy and spirit were contagious!
My deepest sympathies go out to her beloved husband Niall and her family and close friends.
Rest easy good friend!

She made a great great impression on my life even for the short time I knew her in my youth as she was my teacher and coach at Kenilworth j.h.s. Edmonton 1982-84. I am saddened by her passing but have very fond memories of her laugh and the bounce she seems to always have in her step

Brenda was absolutely the best. Energetic, inspiring, compassionate, creative, talented, dedicated. I had the honour of working with her as a student teacher (I played Olga to her Nadia) and later, coaching volleyball with her. Her motto of J.E.H.L. fit her to a T. My condolences go to Niall and her family - she was a beautiful soul.

I am so sad to see this. Brenda and I went to junior high school together. She was a very gifted athlete through junior high and high school and went on to become a competitive athlete. We lost touch during high school when I went to a different high school and her family moved. She was the nicest friend with such a good sense of humor and a heart of gold. I can still see her in my mind with her contagious laugh. We had so many fun times together. I will remember her with love.
