Brent Cawley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2016.
"Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure."

Brent E. Cawley was on a trip with friends in Pemberton, BC, Canada when he was taken from us in a snowmobile accident on March 19th, 2016, he was 54 years old. He was born on October 3rd, 1961 to his father Don Cawley and Wanita Ekholm Cawley - Keating, in Seattle, WA. After graduating high school, Brent went on to briefly attended Bellevue Community College, or as his friends fondly referred to it, Brent Cawley College, before transferring to Washington State University.

At Washington State University Brent became a member of the 1982 pledge class of Kappa Sigma where he not only gained some life long friends but also a whole new house of brothers. Brent attended Washington State University until 1986 when he graduated as a manufacturing engineer. His knowledge and natural talent later made Brent an asset at Boeing. Over the years Brent become a father, a husband and a better and better friend to the many people whose lives he touched.

Brent lived life to its fullest. He made everyone feel important, like they had been friends forever. We will miss his infectious smile, hang loose hand signal, and has white boy dance moves. Words cannot fill the void felt by all, but know that his presence will always be in our hearts.

Brent soared in life, and now is soaring with Angels. I know my love is watching over me and all of us.

Brent E. Cawley is survived by his wife, Jill M. Crueger, his son, Don Cawley and daughter, Tori Cawley, his mother, Wanita Keating, his sisters Tracy Marshall (Kenny Marshall), Susan Keating (Linda Pillo); brothers, Rick Keating, Mic Keating (Debbie Keating), Jamie Keating and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services for Brent will be held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Mercer Island starting with a viewing at 10:30am with full services from 12:00pm to 1:00pm followed by a reception at the River Rock at Maplewood Golf Course on Maple Valley Hwy from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.

I had 3 big opportunities to work with Brent over the years. He was a great guy with great motivations and spirit. We found ourselves sitting beside each other in a meeting a few years ago after a long while of not working together at all. We were both completely surprised, laughed heartily and spent a few months working the same project. His family, I am certain, misses him greatly. I am truly sorry for this loss.

My deepest sympathies for Brent's family and loved ones. The time I spent with Brent was enjoying his winter passion together - where he seemed to pretty much always have his infectious smile on display. He'll be deeply missed.

Jill & Family,
The last time I saw Brent was after the "Ladies" Christmas Party. He came through the door and Jill was glowing and said "Hi Honey". Brent gave me a huge bear hug and thanked me for coming over. I can't explain the feeling other than feeling like a little sister being hugged by her big brother...but monumental and epic. I got to my car and looked forward to seeing Jill and Brent again. He was a great person. We are blessed to have known him. Saturday will be a day to come together and celebrate his life and be a part of the healing process. Big hugs to you Brent and family.

To Jill and all of Brent's family, words cannot express how saddened I am to hear about Brent. He was a great guy. His warm smile followed that big bear hug he delivered every time I was welcomed into your home will remain etched in my heart forever. I am so grateful that, even though briefly, I got the chance to know him. Someone so special can never be forgotten. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

To all of you who knew and loved Brent, I am so sorry for your loss. As a friend of Brent's at WSU, I will always have very fond memories of the times we spent together. He was a great guy then and, while I have not seen him in years, I sense he maintained his positive outlook until his final moments. I know he will be missed by many.
