Brent Child Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 13 to Sep. 20, 2023.
Brent D. Child, 66, of Garner, NC and formerly of Lancaster, MA, passed away on September 4, 2023 at hospice in Whiteville, NC. He passed away from complications resulting from a 2015 ruptured brain aneurysm. Brent was born in 1956 in Rumford, ME to Robert and Beverly Child.

Brent was known for his charismatic and friendly personality and his sense of humor. He worked as a nurse anesthetist in MA and in medical device sales for Teleflex in NC. He graduated in nursing from Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, MA in 1979 where he met his future wife, Cindi. Brent then went on and graduated as a nurse anesthetist from St Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA in 1983. He loved his work and took great pride in what he did. He was a devoted father and a wonderful provider for his family. He lived in Lancaster, MA for 15 years before moving to Garner, NC in 1995.

Brent loved spending time with his sons whom he loved unconditionally. He especially loved watching Sunday afternoon football with his sons. He was an avid NE Patriots fan. He also enjoyed his many trips to visit friends and family in his hometown of Dixfield, ME where there was never a shortage of home-cooked food by his mother and sharing his childhood escapades with his sons. He was a member of the New Life SDA Church in Chapel Hill, NC. His faith and church family were very important to him. He loved spending time with the Lord as he read his Bible each morning with a cup of coffee.

Brent is survived by his wife Cindi, sons Matthew Child and Bobby Child, and grandson Jaxon Child from Raleigh, NC, as well as his brothers Peter Child and wife Diane, and Mark Child and wife Sandy from Jupiter, FL, along with his aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents Robert and Beverly Child predeceased him.

Brent will be greatly missed. There will be a memorial service on October 14, 2023 for anyone who knew Brent and would like to attend. It will be held at the Garner Civitan Club at 1005 Poole Dr. in Garner, NC at 3pm. If you would like to send a card or note it can be mailed to:

Dear Family and loved ones. I am so sorry for the loss of this dear man. I only knew him briefly through my high-school friendship with his brother, Mark. He was so lively and fun. I know he will be so missed. I was so happy to read that the Lord was his friend and I hope I will get to know him again with all his family one day ! I am praying also to be faithful to that day. Much Love to you all and remember We Have This Hope that burns within our hearts, Hope In The coming of the Lord.
