Brent McBride Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2018.
Brent McBride passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 after a three-year battle with cancer.

Brent was born on April 11, 1960 in Baton Rouge, LA to his parents, Jerry and Golda McBride. He married Sandra McBride in 1984 and graduated from LSU in 1986. They soon moved from Baton Rouge to Memphis for work and started a family.

After many years in sales and financial services, he found his true calling when he decided to pursue his passion for teaching. He eventually became the economics teacher at Arlington High School where he put his God-given talents to good use in forming the hearts and minds of his students. His larger-than-life personality (and stature) will leave a lasting impression on all those who had the opportunity to meet him.
Brent was also very active in the church and other ministries, coaching, teaching, and mentoring Internationals. His love for Jesus, gift of hospitality, and passion for helping others was something he passed down to his children.

His family is so grateful for the gift of the three years spent with him after his diagnosis. In that time, he was able to be present for the birth of two grandsons, continue teaching, and take some meaningful vacations with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra McBride; his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Sally McBride; his daughter, Morgan McBride; two grandsons, Jack and Sullivan; his parents, Jerry and Golda McBride; and his brother, Lindsey McBride.

Brent's celebration service will be this Friday, Aug 10 at Harvest Church, 3645 Forest Hill Irene Road, Germantown, TN. The visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30, with the service to follow at 3:00.
In keeping with Brent's heart for International students, in lieu of flowers please make donations to V.I.S.A. (Visitor and International Student Alliance) Memphis (payable to "V.I.S.A. Memphis – CO;" PO Box 2044, Dept. 2300, Memphis, TN 38101).

Sorry to hear about his passing away. Brent was a big man with a big heart. Thinking of and praying for the family.

I and Drew send our prayers and thoughts to Sandra and the McBride family during this time. We here on Earth have lost a great man that was f an inspiration, appreciated living life to its fullest, and shared that with all of us who knew him each day. But his illness was taking that joy from him and today he has gained peace and freedom from it and we rejoice in his new found zest for life the likes of which we have not yet seen in him, but we will. Peace rest in your hearts,
Love,

Love Capitol Mack

My deepest prayers go to the McBride family in this tough time. Mr. McBride taught me more about being passionate, cherishing life, and economics, of course, than anyone I have ever known, truly. I've thought about him every day since hearing that he passed because he really did make that much of an impact on my life so many years ago. What a light he is to everyone who has met him. I won't be able to offer my condolences in person but will be offering them in prayer. I can't thank you enough for sharing him with us and I can't imagine how much you all are hurting. My best wishes to all of you.
