Brian Gallagher Obituary
Brian graduated from the University of Chicago in 1963 with a medical doctor degree and doctor of philosophy degree in neurology. He was a professor of neurology at Yale University, Georgetown University and the Medical College of Georgia until 1994. Brian moved to Maine and practiced general medicine from 1994 until 2007 at Orono Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Gildart) Gallagher of Orono; two sons, Ian Gallagher of Orono and Cullen Gallagher of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and brother, Dr. Thomas Gallagher of Omaha, Neb.
Services will be private for the family. Gifts in his memory may be made to Orono Health Association, 10 Birch St., Orono, ME 04473. A service of Brookings-Smith, Orono Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono.

Dr. Brian Gallagher was a brilliant researcher and clinician, but to me he was a beloved friend and mentor. If not for his encouragement when I worked as a technician for him more than 40 years ago at Yale University School of Medicine, I never would have considered the possibility of graduate school. Thus, in a very real way, I owe the subsequent 30+ years of my professional life as a medical educator and researcher to his early guidance. Rest in peace, old friend...

So sad to read of Dr. Gallagher's death. He was a kind and thoughtful physician. I will always remember the corned beef sandwiches that he brought to the staff at Orono Medical on St. Patrick's Day. He had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed working with him.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Gallagher. I worked with him at Orono Medical Center for several years. He was a wonderful person and a great Doctor. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I am sadden to hear about Dr. Gallagher. I had the honor of working with him at Orono Medical Center for 4 years. He will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Gallagher and his two sons.
