Brian Snyder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 10, 2025.
Brian James Snyder, 46, of 69 Palm Street, Lindenhurst, New York, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Born on February 27, 1978, Brian spent nearly his entire life in the house where he grew up.

Brian was the husband of Jen and devoted father to his two daughters, Layla (10) and Vivian (8), who were the light of his life. They will alway remember him as a silly Dad who "cracked them up" with silly dances and air guitar playing. He was the baby brother to Jimmy, Eric, and Donna, and a proud uncle--but really more of an older brother to-- to Ryan and Evan, who grew up at 69 Palm Street with him. His loyal dog, Buddy, was his constant companion and "day buddy."

A man of courage and an unwavering sense of loyalty, Brian served with distinction for 20 years as a member of the NYPD. Following his retirement in 2020, he combined his love for the water with his dedication to protecting others by working as a bay constable. The bay and ocean were places of peace for Brian, and he took pride in safeguarding the waters he knew so well.

Brian will be remembered for his enormous heart, his infectious laughter, and the way he always greeted friends and family with a warm hug. When Brian made a friend, it was for life-he was steadfastly loyal and always had your back. But, perhaps his closest friend--the man he had coffee with every day, was his Dad, James Snyder (also a police officer). He loved cars, especially Ford Mustangs and Porsche 911s, enjoyed family cooking, and treasured quiet moments watching his favorite movies with his daughters.

Brian's legacy is one of love, bravery, and an enduring commitment to those he cared about. He sacrificed much of his time caring for both his father and mother at 69 Palm Street for several years where each of them died as well.

When his father became ill in 2016, Brian became his care May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Dear Jennifer, I know no words can ease the extraordinary pain you must be suffering. But seeing all the people that turned out this morning at the church to pay respect and show support to you and your family hopefully gives you some comfort. Brian was obviously loved by many people and will be missed by many more, myself included. Over the years I'd like to think that he became more than just a customer, but a friend. He was always kind and considerate with me as well as loyal.
You and your family have my heartfelt sympathy. Be well, stay safe and strong. Let me know if I can help you with anything.
