Brison Wood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2025.
Vero Beach - Brison Robert (Bob) Wood died on August 1, 2025. Bob was born on November 14, 1931, in Pasadena, California, the son of Brison and Pamilla Wood.

Bob was an honors graduate of Deerfield Academy in 1950. He attended Yale University where he was a member of the varsity swim team and an avid golfer, graduating in 1954 with a B.S. degree and was awarded a Tau Beta Pi honors distinction.

Upon graduation from Yale, he received a two-year officer's commission as part of the US Air Force procurement group at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, NY, working on building the US radar network across the North American continent. While in Rome, he married the love of his life, Constance Craig on April 2, 1954. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he completed his Harvard MBA studies, receiving a finance degree with Distinction.

Bob's business career was entirely as an investment manager on Wall Street. He was the Chief Investment Officer and Executive VP of Yeager, Wood & Marshall for several decades. His focus was on long term investment in companies with dominant competitive positions in growth markets.

On weekends he gained skills with clay target shotgun shooting and proceeded to the point where he eventually won the NJ State Senior Sporting Clays Championship and was named twice to the NSCA Veteran's All-American Team.

Following his business career, Bob and his wife, Connie decided to explore North America via motorhome and spent the next five summers on this adventure. Global trips followed: across Russia on the Orient Express, a fascinating Antarctic cruise, two China trips, several European tours, remote Pacific Island voyages and wild animal safaris in Africa.

Bob became active in rebuilding McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach, Florida and was instrumental in adding a sizeable children's garden to that facility. He started up a foundation (MEFI) to help Moorings club employee staff broaden their educational skills and background.

Bob Wood is survived by his wife of 70 years, Constance Craig Wood, son Peter C Wood and his wife Margaret, daughter Wendy Wood Schlosser and her husband John, grandchildren Christopher M Wood and his wife Kajal, Jessica Wood Johnson and her husband Trent, Trevor C Wood and his wife Alexandra, Sara V Schlosser, Kerry L Schlosser and her wife Taylor Murray, Robert N Schlosser, great grandchildren Caleb M Wood and his wife Erica, Cameron A. Wood, Rebecca E Wood, Carter H Johnson, Isabelle E Johnson, Jack T Wood, Ava L Wood, and great-great grandchild, Caroline S Wood.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on August 16, at St Augustine Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McKee Botanical Garden (mckeegarden.org), 350 US Highway 1, Vero Beach, FL 32962, or MEFI, 100 Harbour Dr, Vero Beach, FL 32963.

What a wonderful man! Bob was the heart and soul of McKee supporters. Mckee would not be where it is today without Bob and Connie. The pirate ship in the Children's Garden was all Bob's creation, born of the stories he told his children when they were young about the pirate ship Scorpion.
To Connie and is wonderful family, thank you for sharing Bob with us. We will miss him, but the pirate ship will always remind us of him.
