Bruce was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated from Central High School. He then served in the United State Marine Corps, and graduated from the University of South Dakota. He was raised by his parents, James and Peggy Spaulding with his brother Boyd in Sioux City, Iowa. He married his wife, Shirley Kemner on August 2, 1963 in Manning, Iowa. They moved from Sioux City to Omaha, Nebraska where he joined the United States Treasury Department. Bruce had a diverse career with the government from pursuing organized crime, to defeating corporate corruption. He eventually became a manager, and remained with the Treasury Department until he retired in 1990. Bruce and Shirley eventually left Omaha, and spent their golden years in Sun City West, Arizona where Shirley passed away in 2014. In 2016, Bruce moved to live with his son, Scott, and daughter-in-law Emily in Justin, TX. Bruce stayed with Scott and Emily, with Emily acting as his caregiver, until his passing. Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved socializing and entertaining people. Bruce ended his long battle with congestive heart failure and Parkinson's on August 26th, 2021 in his home in Justin. Bruce is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, his daughter Lisa, and her wife CJ. Lisa is a teacher at a community college in Kansas City.
