I only talked to Mr. Madsen on the phone. He was ordering a shirt for Micheal's birthday in 1993. He was so very proud of Micheal and Virginia. Even though he did not like the movie Virginia did of Candyman. He still was the two of you your biggest fan.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts are with you.

Sorry to read about Cals passing he and my dad Chuck Janulis were pals from the good old days. Dad used to play Santa at the Izaak Walton club Christmas party and cooking shrimp at the yearly shrimp boil where they were both members for a long long time Great times. They're both having good laughs together looking down on us.

My condolences to the Madsen family on the loss of a great guy.
I met Cal (the Silver Fox) when I was around 10 years old. I hung out at the Engine 129/Truck 50 station at 81st & Ashland.
Cal was the best friend and role model I had there. He tried to teach me my multiplication tables but that did not work(never really ended up needing them). He definitely made me want to become a FireFighter. I did, in the suburbs , but soon realized that I wasn't built to do that for 30 + years. I did go into public service and became a Cook County Sheriff's Police Officer.
I have many good memories of Cal and that station. Unfortunately we ended up having to move away. I would stop back and visit occasionally to see the mascot, Heidi.
I'm glad that Cal had a good long life and I want you to know that he was a great influence on myself and probably others.
May he rest in peace.

Kay, Michael, Gina and family: So very sorry for your loss of Cal, known to our family as my father's childhood and lifelong friend. We called him "Uncle Cal" and
remember great times throughout the years at "the Ike's". Nancy and Nick loved the good times with Cal...he will be missed by all..

We will miss him at Stony Creek. He was such a gentleman. His wink always made me laugh because it was "our secret"

So sorry for your loss. We have many fond memories of Cal, especially all the years at the Ikes! The shrimp boils, steak fries, parties, and weekend fun at the beach. My mom called him "the Silver Fox." He loved that! We know he will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with you. Carole Grant (Buchheit)

To the Madsen family,
I am so sorry about Calvin. Just read this and realized that my favorite actor Michael Madsen is his son. Virginia is also terrific. I didn't know Cal, but he sounded so courageous and a nice gentleman.

We will miss you, Cal. Your quips, anecdotes and jokes always brought smiles. You always "called them like you saw them" and that was admirable. Rest in Peace !!
