SMITHVILLE, Texas — Carl A. Angers Sr. passed to life eternal on Aug 15, 2009.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1927, in Laconia, N.H., to Walter J. and Marie Irma Angers.

He was the eighth of 10 children born to this union. He had seven brothers and two sisters. Carl attended St. John's Catholic school until the eighth grade when he went to Laconia High. He was interested in baseball and football.

He entered the Army during World War II and continued to serve in the military until 1967.

While stationed in San Antonio, he met and married Billie Machen and changed his official residence to Smithville.

After retiring from military service he held several civilian jobs, and ultimately took a civil service job at Bergstrom Air Force Base until a second retirement in 1982.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Billie; his parents; and his brothers, Wallace, Clyde, Walter, Earl, Harold, Raymond, Edward; sister, Dorothy Chadwick; and great-grandson, Robert Faske.

He is survived by his son, Carl Jr. and wife Donna; granddaughters Victoria Helmer and Jennifer Starkey; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn Combs of Leona, Kymberleigh Starkey, Nicole Helmer, Jimmie Starkey all of Smithville; a sister Elaine Fregosi of Concord, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.
