I had the good fortune of being a part of Carl and Janices wedding, as Janice and I had been friends for quite some time. The news of Carls death was a shock only because he was one of those people that I thought if as invincible. In addition, the world needs more Carl Careys. I greatful to have shared many Manhattans with him and happy to, again, be a part of his ongoing legacy.

My strongest memories of Carl are those of him as a loving and devoted father to Kylie and Josh. I see his courage, strength and sense of humor living on in them both. I know he is, and will continue to be, so very proud of them. Over the last 30 years he and Janice made many wonderful memories together and I hope those memories will provide comfort in the coming months. He was someone that I, and all who knew him, could depend on for help at a moments notice. He will be missed. He will always be remembered in our hearts.

Carl and I met at our Signal Corp basic officer training in May 1961 and immediately hit it off together. Following graduation we were both assigned to the Ordnance guided missile school. From there we spent tours together in the Defense Communications Agency in Arlington and 5th Signal Command in Germany. I consider him one of my best friends over all these years. After retirement he led me to join a communications company that he was working at, managing a major office in Arizona. He shortly moved to the company headquarters in Fairfax before he helped start up a separate company nearby. For a short time he lived around the block from me and we spent many hours enjoying playing cards and other games and touring local sites.
Carl was like a brother to me and we often helped each other out whenever there was a need. He was always eager to help and expected nothing in return. He was a true soldier with a great respect for and dedication to the United States ands its military family. It was a shock to return from a trip and hear the bad news from his son-in-law.
We all know no one will get out of here alive. But the hereafter will be forever. I intend to look you up when my time comes and our bond of friendship will continue unabated. Cheryl and I will certainly miss you until our time comes.
May God Bless Carl's soul and send a special blessing to Janice and their entire family in this time of sorrow.
