Carl Allen Green

June 8, 1946 - December 12, 2022

Carl Allen Green passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at Kobacher House in Columbus, OH after a 1 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Carl graduated from Woodward High School and worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Henzler Manufacturing for 12 years and 30 years at Chrysler Jeep Corp. Carl was quite active in the Toledo Roadrunners Club - he racked up over 35,000 running miles. Carl participated in running road races, biking, cross county ski events, biathalons, triathlons, well as hiking in many of the U.S. National Parks. He was extremely proud of hiking up many 10,000+ Western peaks. He was a 40-year member of Torio's Health Club, where he developed a wonderful friendship with his mentor, Dick Torio, along with many of the club members. It was admirable how Carl continued with his endurance and strength exercise routines between his chemo sessions - always the health enthusiast. Carl and his wife moved, in retirement, to the Columbus area to spend more time with their 'kids'. Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Kosinski Green; his #2 love, his daughter, Jessica Green Tack and his 'like a son, Joseph Tack; his #3 love, his granddaughter, Lourdon Grace Tack; as well as #1 grandsons, Arthur John (AJ) Tack, Benjamin Thomas Tack, and Gustav Allen Tack; his two brothers, John (Corinne) Green, Douglas (Lauri) Green; sister, Cheryl Davis Selby. Sandra (Ray) Manion, John (Maggie Salinas) Kosinski, Dr. Susan (Dr. Robert) MacArthur, Kevin (Joy) Kosinski, Joyce (Geoffrey) Aughenbaugh, Andrea (James) Colvin, as well as many nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews - he loved them ALL. He was preceded by his loving parents, Emmett and Helen (Lourdon) Green; uncle/'brother', Thomas Green, Rose and Arthur Kosinski, Jerry Davis, and Chuck Selby. Carl treasured his relationships and all the memories he experienced with his many cousins on the Green, Lourdon, and Demoe sides of the families. He was loved for his honesty, determination, patriotism, patience, craftsmanship, resilience... He was a genuinely GOOD man! He will be missed by SO many. In lieu of flowers, a fund will be set up with the Project Purple organization in his name. Carl donated his eyes to the Ohio Eye Bank, as well as his body to OSU Anatomical Program. A Celebration of Carl's Life will be held in the early Spring in Columbus. If interested in attending, please email [email protected] and family will provide specifics.

Carl sure left me with fond memories of growing up with him. I miss those good times with him, but feel fortunate to have had him as a loving cousin all those years.

Carl was a loved member of the Torio Health Club family. Nicest guy you´d ever want to know! I particularly appreciated his endurance training wisdom when I was a runner and triathlete. He shared his experience and knowledge freely and supported and cheered me on. God bless the entire Green family - my condolences. Thankfully, he led a full life and was at peace at the end - a true blessing that will help ease the pain of losing Carl. I will remember him fondly and look forward to celebrating his life.

Carl was as good a man as one could possibly be. He was so kind, positive, and humble. My whole family grieves for the loss of Carl. We look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

I have a lot of fond memories growing up with Carl. Even though he was almost 5 years older than me, he treated me as a brother and included me on some fun adventures. He was such a kind soul and will be sorely missed. Love and miss you Carl.
