Carli Sears Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 19, 2016.
Carli Elizabeth Sears, 20, of Charleston, was taken away from us way too early by a hit and run driver, while walking on a sidewalk on Sunday, January 17, 2016; in Morgantown, WV. Carli; humorous, silly, loved life more than anyone, happy, made others feel happy, knew words to every song of every genre, genuine, life of the party without a drink in her hand, never met a stranger, neat and organized when needed, good cook, hospitable, abundantly joyful soul, a girl who brought light everywhere she went, designated driver, and known to her friends as Sassafras. She was a 2013 graduate of George Washington High School and a junior at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS, majoring in Hospitality Management. She was a member of Alpha Omicron PI Sorority, a hard working student carrying an 18 hour load. Summers were spent at Camp Twin Creeks, swimming and life guarding at Berry Hills Country Club as well as babysitting. Through her generosity to give life, Carli was an organ donor. . She was preceded in death by grandparents, Jack (papa Jack) and Betty Jane (granny) Sears, Betty Lee Sears, Dr. Joseph T. (poppy doctor) and Regina W. (grammy) Skaggs; her very special friend and surrogate brother, Drew Morton. Carli is survived by her parents, Julia Sears, Brent Sears, and Debbie Stevens; sister and very best friend, Makenzie Sears; very close friend and surrogate sister, Alexa Morton; a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love and care for her very much. Carli babysat Francesca Fairless and had a great fondness for her as well as L. J. and Lia Fairless. Visitation will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2016. A Service to Honor the Life of Carli will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 22, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church of Charleston with Rev. Dr. William G. McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park in Charleston. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Charleston Lions Club, P.O. Box 1383, Charleston, WV 25325 or Hospice Care of West Virginia, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25378-2536 or Camp Twin Creek Scholarship Fund Care of John Adams Middle School, 2002 Presidential Drive, Charleston, WV 25314.
