BASILE, CARMINE Carmine Basile, 98, of Branford, CT, died Saturday October 2, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born in Cerreto Sannita, Italy and was a retired shoe store owner. He was married to Lucia Basile of Branford for 61 years. He was the beloved father of Michelina Fazzino (Joseph) and Gabriella Zwack (Leonard), all of Branford. Devoted grandfather to Dr. Leonard Zwack (Lisa), Anthony Fazzino, Christopher Zwack and Maria Fazzino. Loving uncle of Alberto & Giulio DelVecchio. He was predeceased by his five siblings and his parents, Francesco and Maria Michelina Basile. He was a member of the Italian American Club in Branford and a communicant of St. Mary Church in Branford. He was a veteran of World War II. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450 or to the Italian American Club, 40 Hamre Lane, Branford, CT 06405. See online memorial at www.wsclancy.com
