Carol Horn Obituary

Carol A. Horn

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Carol Ann Horn loving wife of Norman and mother of four children, passed away at age 82.

Carol was born July 16, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Bernadette Ehemann, her two older brothers, Don and Dick and her husband of 60 years Norman. She is survived by her four children, Chris (Cathy), Jeff (Robyn), Jenny (Mike), and Jim (Marion), nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Carol grew up in Pleasant Ridge, Ohio and attended Regina High School. She met Norman at a CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) picnic and attended Dayton University, 1959. In October, 1961 she married Norm. Due to Norm's Civil Engineering career, Carol and family moved several times, which included six states and a Country (Sri Lanka). She has many friends and "adoptive" grandchildren from all their moves. Carol loved sewing, cooking, and baking. She was always baking her famous cookies and lovingly shared her joy of baking with her two granddaughters.

Carol had a giving spirit and volunteered at several hospitals. One in Richardson, Texas and the other near their retirement home in Winnsboro, Texas. She was also a wonderful hostess for many of the Eldorado Bay POA (Perspective Property Owners) annual picnics as well as the Ladies Camelot book club. Carol's home baked cookies were always on hand for anyone who came to visit. You could count on her saying "let me get you some cookies."

Carol was a devoted parisioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She taught religious classes, was a member of the Ladies Guild and prepared meals for the children in Lunches of Love summer program. She cared deeply for others through Stephen Ministry and Cypress Basin Hospice. Her kindness and loving spirit were a natural reflection of her personality. Even though she had to move to a Memory Care Facility, Carol still would help other residents with their projects.:

Carol and Norm were the happiest at their retirement home in Eldorado Bay. Carol often said this was the best place they lived. They are happy once again together and Carol is providing everyone with her tasty chocolate chip cookies. She will always be remembered as the cookie Mom.

A celebration of life service will be held January 21, 2022, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol's honor to Alzheimer's Association https://alz.org, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital http.//stjudes.org. Stephen Ministries https: www.stephenministries.org
