Carolyn P. “Carol� Anello, of Needham died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. She was76 years old. Born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo L. and Loretta L. (Moore) Pittard. Carol was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Women’s College. She worked for a time as a 2nd Grade teacher in the Ithaca New York Public Schools. A Needham resident for over 47 years, Carol was a former teacher’s aid at the Hillside and Eliot Schools in Needham. She was a longtime peace activist. The beloved wife of the late Michael Anello, Carol was the loving mother of Karen Galileos of Needham, Laurie Anello of Palm Harbor FL and Christina Anello Newman of Rockport. Sister of Elizabeth Haynes of Charlotte, NC, she is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Parish Unitarian –Universalist, 23 Dedham Ave Needham on Monday, May 2 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Sunday from 4-7 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations in Carol’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association PO Box 96011, Washington DC, 20090-6011 or Lost Coin Women’s Fund, PO Box 82, Milton MA 02186.
