Carrie Jane “CJ” Hefner, of Hickory, NC, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
Born on December 19, 1944 in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Paul “Pete” Hefner and Frances Williams Hefner. She was a member of Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory, NC.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by Baxter “her beloved feisty tuxedo cat,” and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Ms. Hefner is survived by her sister, Judy Benfield and husband Richard; nephew, Jason Benfield and wife Wesley Victoria; great nephew and niece, Zachary and Avery Benfield; aunts, Nora Williams and Draytona Penley Hefner; uncle, Lewis Hefner; cousins, Dr. Carl “Butch” King and wife Cindy, Kim Hefner, Tonya Starnes and husband Jimmy, David Hefner, Donna Robson and husband Jim, Linda Kay Williams Collier and husband Roger, Bob Williams and wife Marge, Dawn Pence and husband Scott, Jack Williams and wife Gail, Johnny Williams and wife Marty, and Dorothy Hawkins and husband Bob.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 1:00 to 1:45pm prior to the service at Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory, NC.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory with Dr. Earl Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Viewmont Baptist Church at 1246 2nd ST. NE Hickory, NC 28601 or Catawba Regional Hospice at 3695 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658.
The family greatly acknowledges and appreciates assistance from Hospice Home Health Nurses, CAN’s, and social workers as well as Gentiva Home Health Nurses and Therapists.
