Catherine Fournier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2025.
Catherine Brown Fournier, aged 90, passed peacefully at her home on February 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late E. Edward Fournier.

Born in Paisley, Scotland on July 31, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine McMenemy. She worked at Marks and Spencer's before immigrating to the United States where she worked as a nanny.

During her time as a nanny, Catherine met the love of her life E. Edward Fournier at the beach in 1957. They settled in Portsmouth, NH where they would raise their three children. Catherine was fortunate enough to have spent the last sixty eight years in her home watching her family grow.

In her later years she spent her time traveling to visit all of her children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren. When Catherine wasn't traveling you could find her watching Fox News. She was always keeping up with the latest news and political happenings. In her down time she would spend hours either reading or enjoying her many gardens where she loved to watch the birds that would come and visit.

Catherine is survived by her children Deborah Fournier-Johnstone and her husband Allan of Portsmouth, NH, Donna Kilby of Dover, DE, Edward Fournier and his wife Tammy of Magnolia, TX, her grandchildren, Patrick Kilby and his wife Amanda, Shayna Kilby, Samantha Goodman and her partner Corey Couillard, Colby Goodman, Catherine Ytreeide and husband Michael, Edward Fournier and wife Jessica, Ethan Fournier and wife Lucy, her great grandchildren Charlie Kilby, Sara Kilby, Cam Kilby, Rori Fournier, Tripp Fournier, Riley Fournier, Ira Fournier, Samuel Ytreeide and Amelia Ytreeide.

The family would like to thank all of Catherine's doctors and Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion while she was in their care. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Gather-Portsmouth, 210 West Road, Unit 3, Portsmouth, NH or Famlies First Health and Support Center, 8 Greenleaf Woods Drive, Portsmouth, NH.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 2pm to 3:30pm at Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State Street, Portsmouth, NH. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17th, 2025 at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church 98 Summer Street, Portsmouth, NH.

Deb, Allan and family, Ed and I are so sorry for your loss of your Mom. We only met her a few times but that was enough to know what a beautiful, loving and caring woman she was. Sending love and prayers.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom. Family was everything to her, you could see it in her eyes when she spoke if you. She had a great sense of humor she would say something where we would burst out laughing and she would give a look as if to say, "What did I say something!" I hope the memories help you through this and know what a beautifulduggy it just have been even your dad came to bring her with him
