CATHERINE ANN
Known to friends and loved ones as Katie Greer, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Canterbury Place Hospice in Lawenceville, PA. At 62 years of age, Katie was in the prime of good health when she suffered a traumatic brain injury and subsequently experienced a massive stroke from which she could not recover. An elementary music teacher and skilled vocalist, Katie was dedicated to the children in her care, hoping to instill in all of her students a love of music. Katie was also an accomplished horsewoman, and she raised and trained horses on her small farm in Beaver County, PA. Passionate about the need to preserve the earth, Katie had begun to direct her attention and energy to political advocacy and environmental preservation issues. Independent, intelligent, creative and thoughtful, Katie touched many lives with her kind and relentless spirit. She is survived by her beloved spouse of 26 years, Barb Tervo. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Alice and James J. Greer. She is also survived by nine sisters and brothers, Mary (Bill) Greer Landon, James (Liz) Greer, Martha (Jim) Greer Hollihan, Patricia Heyl, Lawrence (Michele) Greer, Agnes (Dennis) Haggerty, Margaret Greer, Judith (Thomas) Brooks and Joseph (Aggie) Greer. Denise Tervo, Jay (Barbara) Tervo and Matt (Regina) Tervo are her loving in-laws. Katie and Barb are the much loved aunts of Colleen, Kim, Jim, Joe, Elizabeth, Sarah, Tom, Juliet, Bob, David, Dan, Lauren, Michael, Jamie, Aggie, Denise, Isaiah, Remy, McCall, Joe, Brittany and Jordan, as well as Lindsey (Jason, Romona), Brenden, Ashley and Caroline and many very dear grandnieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue, PA 15202. Funeral Services, in celebration of her life, will be held at Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2555 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 1989 College Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30317 or online at http://www.splcenter.org or the Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202, or online at http://www.heifer.org.

For some reason Katie has been on my mind lately so I thought I'd look on the internet to see if I could find out what she's been doing. I am so shocked to find out that she passed in 2017. My memories of Katie from High School at Mt. Assisi are very fond and delightful. We enjoyed singing and playing on our guitars together and her love of music and life were evident even then at a very young age. She certainly was a bright spot in our world and even though we didn't keep in touch, my heart always had a special place for her.
Katie. ..someday we will meet again and continue our praising God together. . .in song!

She was the first teacher to tell me I had a good singing for. At the time, I was terrified of her. She knew I was shy! When you're six, that's basically mind-reading. Now I sing every day.

I only met Katie a few times--I bought my house from her--but living here for 16 years, I have heard many fond stories from her neighbors and friends. I remember what the house looked like when I first saw it--bright, simple, with a piano downstairs and art everywhere. She was reassuring, down-to-earth and I liked her instantly. The only thing she asked when I moved in was not to cut down a tree she had planted in memory of a beloved dog. Katie, your tree flourishes and so does your memory. My best thoughts to those who miss her.

I am so sorry for your loss. As a parent of a former Lincoln School student, we saw how well she engaged the students and taught them music -- and the love of music.
With gratitude for her service,

To the Greer Family - my deepest sympathy to all of you - I can still remember Katie singing at Masses I attended at Assumption Church in Bellevue many years ago - she had such a beautiful voice! She certainly led a wonderful life doing the many things she loved. May God's peace be with all of you at this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

As the Grandparents of two girls who went through Lincoln school, we got to see Ms. Greer most mornings before school. It was always a pleasure. But even more so, was to see her at the school concerts, full of enthusiasm, justifiably proud of the work of her students, and filled with love for them. She was a dedicated teacher, and a truly good person. She will be missed.

Our condolences to her Spouse, and all of her Family.

Barb, I remember Katie from the early days of the Renaissance City Women's Choir--her beautiful, crystal-clear voice and her irrepressible spirit. My heart goes out to you in your loss, and only you know the true depth of that loss. Wishing you comfort and eventual peace.

Deepest sympathies to all of the Greer family -- I remember a lot about a much younger Katie, and am not surprised about what I now read as the woman she became.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those left behind. Katie does not need those now. She has made it!

Our family was so saddened to hear of Ms. Greer's passing. My three children attended Lincoln Elementary, and so spent their elementary school years in Ms. Greer's classroom. Her passion and enthusiasm for music and for her students was evident to the children and to their parents, and the Lincoln Elementary School community will greatly miss her. Our prayers go out to her family and friends.

I am so shocked and sad to hear of Katie's sudden death. I knew the beauty of her life and voice for a too short time at Seton Hill. Blessed are those who have known and loved her since. May God comfort you all and may Katie enjoy eternal rest in Him.

Had the pleasure or 12 years of education with Katie. We were teammates on the Assisi Fiat basketball team and participated in many activities. She had the most beautiful voice and a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed. Carol Munsch Tedesco

My three daughters and three of my grandchildren were all taught by Katie at Lincoln. I've attended so many memorable and enjoyable concerts produced by her for her "kids". She will be greatly missed by all who have known her. God bless you for all you had accomplished.

I have kids who were in Ms. Greer's class at Lincoln. Ms. Greer was everything you would want in an elementary school music teacher. Her passion for music and fun-loving nature was evident at every show. I personally also thought it was great that she participated in the Faculty vs. Steelers basketball game. She made a great impression on these students and she will be dearly missed.
