CATHLEAN EDENBURG Obituary

Cathlean Hamilton was born June 14, 1914 in Port Gibson, Ms. To the parents of Eddie Hamilton and Emma Lee Scott. She was one of seven children. Her sisters: Pearlie Mae, Emma Lee and Mildred Hamilton. Her Brothers: L.C. Hamilton, Eddie Hamilton and George Hamilton whom she had a very special bond with.

Cathlean (Mother) left the nest in 1933 and married John Neal and in that Union they were blessed with four children: Miriam, Robert, Cleonie and Elestine (Tina).

Cathlean moved to California in 1945 and settled in the Richmond area. During this time Cathlean had her first home built in North Richmond and worked as a housekeeper. She made hats and was a hair dresser. Cathlean also was a foster parent and had a boarding home. In 1950 she became a Eastern Star ? Pertatha Chapter. Cathlean was also a faithful servant and member at the North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years being the oldest member on the roster.

Cathlean moved to 433 South 9th Street in 1960 opening her home to many. Lastly, Mother was best known for her great skills in the kitchen and her Dressing was untouchable.

Cathlean leaves behind her son Robert Neal, Sr., sister in-law Florence Hamilton, her grandchildren William Hudson (Skip) (Ingrid/Dusty), Emma Sashington (Kitty), Doyle Oliver, Vicci Melton, Eddie Mims, Talibah Payne (AL), Tracy Reed, Robert Neal Jr., De André Neal, Tanisha Neal, Miriam Neal, Joseph Neal, Joshua Neal, Her loving Neice and nephew Edwina Hamilton and Edward Hamilton as well as a host of great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Cathlean was preceded in death by her daugters; Miriam Hudson, Cleonie Oliver and Elestine (Tina) Reed, brother: George Hamilton, Grandchildren; Sherrell Mapp and John Neal, Great Grandson: Reggie Oliver
