Charles Herman Atkinson, Sr.Odem, TXCharles Herman Atkinson, Sr., was born on October 10, 1934, at home in Calallen, Texas. He died July 26, 2015 at his home in Odem, Texas at the age of 80.He attended Calallen schools from elementary, junior high school and high school, where he graduated in 1953.During these years, Charles participated and excelled in football, basketball, track and tennis earning many awards and lettering all four years in each sport.Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Samuel and Virginia Atkinson; sons, Charles Herman Atkinson, Jr. and Jordan Charles Atkinson; grandson, Jeremy Atkinson; son-in-law, Monty Awbrey, Sr.; five brothers and one sister.He is survived by his wife, Ann Atkinson; children, Charlene Atkinson Awbrey, Susie Forester, John (Michell) Atkinson, Scott (Toni) Vick, Suzanne Fox; daughter-in-law, Judy Atkinson; eighteen grandchildren; thirty three great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Miller as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.Funeral service will conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.Funeral Home Chapel.
