Baer, Charles M. born in St. Louis on Feb. 22, 1933 to Angeline (Kovac) and Charles A. Baer, passed away at home on June 5, 2009. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Black) Baer in 2004. He gave unconditional love and support to his children; a son, Charles (Donellen) Baer of Johnston City, Illinois and daughter Viki (Ron) Goodnick of Waterloo and grandchildren; Emily and Ethan Baer of Mt. Vernon, IL and Sarah Baer of Johnston City, and Bailey, Logan and Thomas Goodnick of Waterloo. Siblings include Dot (John) Imo, Bob (Jo) Baer, Cookie (Rich) Mueth of St. Louis, MO and Sandy (Jim) Hurst of Columbia, IL. Also surviving is partner, Charlette Hamm of Cahokia. Chuck was a graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic School and Hadley Technical High School in St. Louis. He was a founding member of SIAC (Southern Illinois Athletic Club) where he was a noted catcher and pitcher in both fast pitch softball and baseball. Chuck served in the United States Coast Guard for 8 years. He moved to Cahokia in 1959 as a sales manager for Oliver J. Parks. He progressed to Real Estate Broker and GRI (Graduate Real Estate Institute), founding Chuck Baer Realty in 1969, and later the Cahokia RV Parque in 1990. Chuck retired from The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where he was a Realty Specialist. Chuck was a past president of Arch-View East Board of Realtors and Holy Family School Board. He was a member of the Bite Me Bass Club and American Cancer Society. He was a generous support of various people, charities and organizations. Chuck was a passionate jazz enthusiast and avid trout and bass fisherman. He loved traveling and spending time on any beach or beautiful body of water. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Services: Memorial Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia on June 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. Chuck would have liked you to take a child fishing, plant a flower or tree, or donate to the American Cancer Society

To all of Chuck's family and many friends - you are blessed by knowing such a classy man. He will be dearly missed.

It was a real pleasure working with Chuck on Real Estate issues. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

We are saddened to hear of Mr. Baer's passing. He was one of those parents who watched us all as we grew up. I remember him as being very jovial - but also stern if we got out of line. Heaven is a better place with him in it. He can tell all his great stories. Keep him in your heart.
