Charles Bayer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2023.
Charles Edward Bayer, 72, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on June 28, 2023. Born on June 13, 1951, in Newton, NJ, Charlie was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

Charlie was known for his quick wit, humor, and strong opinions. He had a knack for making people laugh and his presence lit up any room he walked into.

In his early career, Charlie drove a tractor trailer, but it was during his 30 years at Circle Dodge where he truly made his mark. He worked his way up to become the General Manager and dedicated the last few years of his career to this position.

He had a passion for playing baseball during his childhood in Menlo Park. Charlie cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He loved their company and enjoyed watching them grow. Fishing was also one of his favorite pastimes, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of the water. Additionally, he was an avid fan of the NY Giants and always looked forward to watching them play football.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Christine, his children Melissa Hauer and her husband Brian, Jason Montero and his wife Breann, and Nikki Manzo and her husband Joe. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Rotondi and Caryl Holmes and her husband Bruce, and brother James Racht. Charlie will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Joey, Jessica, Tyler, Will, Logan, Chloe, Georgey, Bryanna, Brooke, Shane, Blake, Jasmine, Ellie, and Kai.

He was preceded in death by his son Adam Bayer, his mother Margaret Worsham, and his father George Bayer.

A memorial service will be held at Ocean County Memorial Park, 280 Wells Mills Rd, Waretown, NJ 08758, on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00am.

Charlie Bayer will forever be remembered for his infectious laughter, his love for his family, and his unwavering support for his favorite football team. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I knew Charles from our boyhood days back in MPT. I was often his catcher when he pitched for our little league Dodgers when we were eleven and twelve. Although I haven´t seen him in over fifty years I never forgot him. I remember him as being very competitive and I´m sure that carried over into his adulthood. I would have liked the chance to have been able to reconnect with him.

Remember my father, John O´Connor, telling stories about his prized baseball player Charlie when he coached the Menlo Park Terrace baseball team. Always brought smiles to the team and the coaches.

I use to live next door to Charlie and Chris in and middle 1980s. One time we pulled into the driveway and saw Charlie on the roof cleaning it off. But he kept waving for us to come over. When we walked over we saw the ladder had fallen and he was stuck on the roof.
After he got down Charlie said he was stuck up there for about 45 minutes, and the worse part was that he had no cigarettes lol. We were all smokers back then.
Charlie enjoy you time in heaven with Adam and Stan. You will be missed down here
