Charles Commins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 16, 2024.
Charles "Terry" Commins, age 69, of Royal Palm, FL sadly passed away on May 12, 2024. Born on June 13, 1954 in Danville, VA, Terry was known for his quick wit and never-ending advice - from investing in stocks to trimming your trees and anything in between, he always had a helpful suggestion to offer.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents John Gray and Marguerite "Peggy" Commins, and sister Sandy Dykstra.

Mr. Commins is survived by his dear wife of 43 years, Merri J. Commins, as well as their children Charles "Andy" (Ashley) of Royal Palm, FL and Heather (Michael) Sferlazza of Lutherville, MD. He will be missed by his five grandchildren: Olivia and Emily Sferlazza, and Chloe, Connor, and Kaylee Commins. Additionally, he is survived by brothers Bob (Nancy) of Saratoga, CA, Ron (Maria) of Mexico, Chris (Darlene) of Jacksonville, FL, and beloved sisters-in-law Janet Thomas and Sherri Lockett.

His family will fondly remember Terry as a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Terry loved a tall glass of iced tea, a sliced and nearly burnt hot dog, and a marathon of reality television shows. His wife will treasure memories of eyeglasses lost in the river, trips filled with gambling and fun, and simply sitting on the couch holding hands. His children hold special memories of collecting baseball cards, learning to golf, meticulously sorting pieces to build puzzles, enjoying apple fritters on the weekend, and notes scrawled with his hard to read handwriting. His grandchildren will lovingly remember tasting jellybeans, tickles, and playing games with their "Grampy" and "Pampy".

A celebration of his life will be held with family and friends at a later time. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that you find something to laugh about every day, just as Terry did.

Welcoming us to the neighborhood and greeting us with much advice. His strolls on his bike, his guarding of our home. His compliments, thoughtfulness of asking how I am always going, stepping up to help and talks in his driveway with his witty comments and jokes.
