Charles Santo DiMaggio, Sr., 83, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at his home in Metairie, Louisiana. He was the husband of Betty Boyle DiMaggio, who shared 41 years of marriage.
He was accomplished in cabinet making, gardening, beekeeping and weightlifting. He was employed at Kaiser Aluminum for 22 years as a carpenter. He enjoyed weightlifting, tending to his bees, working in the garden, and being an all around handy-man. He will be remembered for his gentle, patient and kind nature as well as for being a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Betty Boyle DiMaggio and his children, Mary Dutchman, Patricia Berthelot, Susan DiMaggio, Charles Santo DiMaggio, Jr., and Shirley DiMaggio Hellbach. He is also survived by his step-children, Traci Crosby Cramer, Michael Crosby, Kathi Crosby Naquin, Kim Kerner, and Kelly Yancey. He had 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two nephews Nicholas and John and his niece, Shyrlene.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana, 70124. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
