Charles R. Gunkel

Gunkel Charles R. "Chuck" Gunkel was born on August 21, 1955, and left his Earthly form unexpectedly but peacefully on April 17, 2023. He grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio, but his love for the West brought him to Utah, where he lived out his remaining years.

An old soul, Chuck was incredibly dynamic, sensitive, and full of charisma. He was an accomplished pool player, a jokester, a nature lover, and an all-around gentle being. As a well-respected master carpenter, there was nothing he couldn't build. His perfectionism, style, and attention to detail ensured that everything he created was of unparalleled quality.

No one had better taste in music than Chuck. If he wasn't blasting Jethro Tull or Alice Cooper, it was Jefferson Airplane or Pink Floyd's early albums. His daughters remember growing up in a house full of music, dancing in the living room, and singing in his pick-up truck. They also remember having the most fun dad on the block. He had boundless love and energy for his children, as they did for him, and summers were spent outside playing kickball, badminton, running around the yard, or teaching them how to do backflips off the swing set.

Chuck leaves behind two devoted daughters who never stopped supporting him, his ex-wife with whom he spent 27 years, his brothers and sisters, and many friends. He will be remembered with a smile, thought about often, and always loved.
