Charles Kenneth Hyden, 91 of Hanahan, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday,
November 18, 2023.

Born on February 29, 1932, in Woodway, Virginia, the Son of (the late) Sarah
Hyden (Biggs) and Charlie Hyden. He lived the majority of his life in Lee County,
Virginia. He and his Wife, Willie Poteet Hyden just celebrated their 70th wedding
anniversary this past June 11.

Charles served in the Air Force soon after graduating Pennington High School. He
was stationed in France post WW2. In 1968, he and his family moved back to Lee
County to start Hyden Brothers Construction with his brother James. They started
with a dump truck and a backhoe, and then evolved into a successful construction
company. In 1980, he became part owner and operator of Sergent-Hyden
Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge dealership in Pennington Gap, VA. He was forced to retire
due to health reasons in 1985. They lived on Route 58 between Dot and Jonesville
from 1970 - 2018. They moved to Kingsport, TN till last year when they moved to
Charleston, SC to be near their son and daughter. Charles loved being around
family and friends, loved a good story and laugh, Loved cars/trucks and bought
and traded many in his lifetime. He loved sitting on the front porch. Judy and
Steve moved to Hanahan in order for Charles and Willie to move in with them and
Christina and Ryeken. A front porch was a must and he spent many hours the last
few months enjoying his radio, drinking his sweet tea, dozing and talks with Wille
and family.

Charles is preceded in death by Charlie Hyden (Father), Sarah Hyden (Mother).
His son, Jim Hyden, and daughter in law Linda Hyden. He was the youngest and
remaining survivor of his eight sisters, Irene, Vernell, Lucille, Charcie, Aline,
Blanche, Ruby, Geneva and his brother James.

Charles is survived by his wife, Willie Hyden, Son, Jody Hyden, his wife, Eleanor
Hyden and their 3 boys, Henry, George and Stuart of Daniel Island, SC. Daughter,
Judy Osborne and husband, Steve Osborne, (Hanahan, SC) and their 3 children
Isaiah, Hayleigh, and Christina. Granddaughter Sara Hyden Taylor of Lee County,
VA. Great grandsons, Kannon and Liam Taylor of Kingsport, TN and James Ryeken
Garrett of Hanahan.

The service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 179
Ben Lawson Drive, Pennington Gap, VA. Family will receive visitors from 1-2:30
pm, with a short service following.

A special thanks to Dr. Art VanZee who was Charles's primary doctor for nearly
forty years. Also Lutheran Hospice of Charleston, SC for the excellent care the last
couple months.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt Carmel Baptist Church.
