Charles Lofties Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 17, 2014.
GySgt Charles Walden (Chuck D) Lofties The final verse of the Marine Corp Hymn goes as follows: "If the Army and Navy ever look on Heaven's scene, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines."

The Heavenly ranks of long past Marines were increased by one upon the arrival of GySgt Charles W. (Chuck D) Lofties on February 8, 2014 as the result of a motorcycle accident in Yuma, Arizona.

Charlie was accorded full military honors by being escorted by GySgt Leo Lora on his final trip home from Yuma to Tyler. Escort procession from Dallas to Tyler included members of the North Texas and East Texas Chapters of the Patriot Guard along with a group of Charlie's brothers from the Infidel Motorcycle Club.

Charlie was born May 31, 1980 in Tyler to Keith and Helen Lofties. He was a proud Texan and lived in Tyler until departing for Marine Corps Boot Camp in July of 1998. He was a graduate of Winona High School and awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in March of 1998.

While in the Corps Charlie served with numerous F 18 Fighter Squadrons from Miramar, California to Beaufort, South Carolina and was hand-selected in 2009 to becorne a part of a Joint StrikeFighter program supporting the introduction of a new stealth fighter known as the F 35.

Charlie is survived by his parents Keith and Helen Lofties of Tyler, daughter Isabella Lofties and her mother Cindi from Vista, California, brother Patrick Lofties of Tyler, paternal grandmother Freda M. Lofties of Albuquerque, New Mexico, nephew Bentley Lofties of Tyler and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles from Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas.

Charlie was and always will be a loving and supportive son, brother, and father. He loved his family first, the Corps second, and his Infidel brothers third.

Services for Charlie are scheduled for Tuesday February 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Glenwood Church of Christ with longtime friend Trent Spradlin presenting.

Chuck "D" came to 115 as one of my controllers and left as a great friend. I was fortunate enough to work along side him once again while in Eglin. I could always count on him for anything. He remains one of the top Marines I have encountered during my 25 years of service. My heart is heavy......you will be missed tremendously!

I had the pleasure to serve along side GySgt Lofties over the last year. You were an outstanding Marine but a better friend. There will remain a void here in the Green Knights that will not be filled. Rest in peace my friend and I will see you again one day!

Keith:

I was very sorry to learn of your loss. I never got to meet your son -- just a young guy when we were in Leadership Tyler -- but he obviously grew up to be quite a man. My sincere condolences, and I hope you and I have a chance to get caught up someday soon.

Keith and Helen,
We are so sad to hear of Charlie's death. We remember with a lot of fondness, coming to your house when our kids were little and all the boys running through the house, being...boys! Our hearts hurt with yours. We know you were so proud of Charlie, and we are proud of the man he became and for his service to our country. We are praying for peace, comfort and that you will always feel Charlie close in your heart.
