Charles Donald McCollum (Jack), 80, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Monday, March 24, 2008? in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Havenbrook Funeral Home with Minister Rob Roe officiating.?Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, Oklahoma.?Pallbearers will be led by Hank Gunther and Darren Campbell.?Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.Mr. McCollum was born March 19, 1928 in Webb City, Okla. to James Henry and Lula Priscilla McCollum.?He was a retired Army Veteran serving with the American Grave Registration Command? at the end of WW II and with the Combat Engineers.?Mr. McCollum retired again at Tinker AFB as a Production Control Supervisor.?He was also a lifetime member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans.)?His distinguished service record earned him the WW II Victory Medal.?He also received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.?Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James A. McCollum and his wife Inez of Amarillo, Texas, and Oscar L. McCollum of Oklahoma City; and a sister, Bessie Mae Nickles of? Shidler, Okla.Survivors include his wife of 60 years Aline; two sons, Dr. C. Neal McCollum, and Allen McCollum and his wife Linda; three grandchildren, Paul, Brad, and Lee; sister-in-law, Eletha; seventeen nieces and nephews; Dr. McCollum's lifetime companion Cindy Nix and two children, Larry Nix and Lori Campbell who also knew him as Grandpa;?and Mr. and Mrs. McCollum's lifetime friend Karen Perez and?three children, Gabe, Alice, and Kim who also knew him as Uncle Jack.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or American Diabetes Associations.Submitted by family

Thank you Dad for being so kind and loving to Lori and Larry. You were the only Grandpa they ever knew and you took them into your heart immediately. Thank you for sharing your Son with us. He is the love of my life and has been a very positive influence on my children. I love you.
