Charles Edwin McMahon

Charles Edwin "Chuck" McMahon, age 81, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Chuck was born on December 3, 1943, in Deerfield, Michigan, to Kenneth Thomas McMahon and Meleese Marie McWilliams. He graduated from Deerfield High School in 1961 and later earned a degree in Business from Eastern Michigan University in 1969. It was there he met the love of his life, Maria Ann Szafranic, who would become his wife of 55 years.

Chuck proudly served his country as a door gunner in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his service, he was honored with an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2019-a moment he treasured. After returning from the service, Chuck ran a family farm for many years and later assisted his daughter with bookkeeping at her chiropractic office.

A lifelong learner and avid reader, Chuck had a sharp mind and a love for numbers. He could talk strategy for hours and was especially skilled at Euchre. He never turned down a card game, a Sudoku puzzle, or a chance to shout answers at Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. He had a deep passion for travel, and one of his greatest joys was planning trips for his family. However, nothing made him happier than a great meal shared with loved ones, especially if it included good conversation, a perfectly cooked steak, and a beer or two.

Chuck is survived by his beloved companion and wife, Maria; his daughter, Laura McMahon (Richmond, IN); his son, Thomas McMahon and daughter-in-law Becky (Indian Land, SC); and three cherished grandchildren: Charleston Cooper, Alexandra Cooper, and Dillon McMahon.
