Charles E. Peake Jr., 81, Venice, formerly of Totowa, N.J., and Belvidere, N.J., died Aug. 7, 2008.
Charlie was born in New York City and raised in the Delawanna section of Clifton, N.J. As a young man he served his country during World War II aboard a destroyer (USS Fox) in the South Pacific. After coming home he was a loyal and hard-working employee of the Hoffman LaRoche Co. for 38 years. Upon retirement, Charlie and his wife made a home in Venice, Fla., where he was a member and president of both the Venice Taxpayers League and the Venice Shuffleboard Club. And, as always, Charlie loved everything about nature and all its wonder, whether it be bird watching or studying butterflies and their host plants.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred, in 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara McPartland, and her husband, Pat of Englewood, Fla.; and a son, Charlie III, and his wife, Linda of Orwell, Vt.

I remember my uncle Charlie very well. And I know he loved nature because I remember him back in the days living in Pennsylvania. I know this is very late but I thought I post this will always be thought about Uncle Charlie. Son of Alfred w peek senior signed Christopher peak

I always enjoyed listening to Charlie - he kept me abreast of the goings on in Venice when I was on council and he was overseeing the shuffleboard courts across from City Hall. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.
