Charles Rohrer Obituary

Rohrer, Dr. Charles O. "Charlie" Charlie Rohrer died peacefully on Saturday morning, October 26, 2013, at his home surrounded by his four daughters and wife of 43 years, Donna Rohrer. Charlie was born on February 3, 1947, in Owatonna, MN to Clint and Helen Rohrer. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1965. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in two years which was followed by his doctorate from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry with high distinction. He went on to receive his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate and Master of Science Degree at the University of Minnesota Orthodontic Residency Program. In 1973 he opened his practices in Burnsville and St. Paul and treated thousands of patients in the communities he so loved. Charlie married the love of his life, Donna Black, on December 27, 1969. Charlie and Donna were blessed with four daughters, Angie (Mike) Zagorski, Sara (Josh) Tuchscherer, Kirsti (Zack) Wenner, and Kaaryn (David) Cooper. Charlie and Donna have been residents of Burnsville and Apple Valley since 1973 and faithful and active members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for over forty years. Charlie practiced his faith daily in his personal and professional life. During his 38 years practicing orthodontics he was tremendously proud to have treated entire families and often multiple generations. Many of his patients became valued life-long friends. Charlie treated thousands of healthy and beautiful smiles. He took great pleasure seeing his patients in the community and reminding everyone to keep wearing those retainers! Charlie is survived by his wife, children, and eight grandchildren, Mia and Max Zagorski, Sam and Eli Tuchscherer, Evelyn and Hazel Wenner, and Isla and Wyatt Cooper. Charlie also leaves behind his sister, Betsy Pegelow and her children, Dr. Michelle Price, Dr. Michael (Shara) Pegelow, and Kathryn Paul. In addition, he is survived by his sister- in-law, Dianne (Patrick) Stewart and their children, Kari (Scott) Campbell, Jill (Lance) Glosemeyer, and Jeff (Nikki) Stewart; his brother-in-law, Richard "Deaner" Black; and Jennie King and her children, Chad King, Gina (Jamie) Johnson, and Aaron King; extended family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, and brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Pegelow. A visitation and celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, October 29 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13901 Fairview Dr. in Burnsville, MN. The visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. The celebration of life will begin immediately thereafter. White Funeral Home Burnsville 952-894-5080 www.whitefuneralhomes.com

Dear Donna and family....We were so, so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Rohrer. Really shocked, to be honest. He was a SUPER doctor, he fitted me with a retainer and reminded me it was for "wearing". Donna we are so sorry. May God give you comfort and knowledge that your Husband, Dad and Grandpa left a tremendous legacy in the form of ALL of you....his wonderful wife, daughters and grandchildren. If we can do anything to help, we would be honored to do so. Sincerely, The Parries Family: Ann, Don, Doni, Cris & Dru

I found out about Dr. Rohrer's passing when I brought my kids in for a long over due retainer check(Sorry Dr. Rohrer). My heart instantly hurt and the tears started to flow. He was a great guy... and will be missed. I was blessed to have found him as our orthodontist and felt he became a friend. I am so glad I started going to see his daughter Sara as our family dentist. What a great family!! Blessings to Dr. Rohrer and his family.

Dr. Rohrer was the best. I was very sorry to hear about his passing. He installed my braces when I was an adult and I looked forward to my appointments with him and talking about almost everything (including sharing photos of my children). He will definitely be missed.

Memories........Dr. Rohrer fixed three beautiful smiles on our 3 daughters. He was referred to me and he put me at ease on our first visit. He loved what he did (as did his staff). Always smiling. He used to tease the girl's about things, including boys; our youngest had a date for her senior prom and he thought he should meet this boy. I remember when our youngest came in for a review, I asked him if there was a discount. He said “the ninth child is free!”. We had a good laugh. I cannot express how sad we are at his early passing. I gather from reading other memories that he was sick. Our daughter's are in their 20‘s now so it has been a while since I have seen him. We will always remember him with grateful hearts. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Donna, we are so sorry to hear the news. Since we retired we haven't been back to Apple Valley in 11 years. However, I remember the toothbrushes passed out on Halloween and all the pride he had in the accomplishments of his loving family. Our prayers are with you. God Bless!

Dear Donna and family!!
I just heard of Dr. Rohrer's passing this morning (November 1). I am so very sorry for your loss. What a wonderful man!! But, of course you all know that! All of us who had the privilege of knowing, and having him as our orthodontist, are better for having him in our lives!! We will all miss him terribly - along with all of you.

The joy is knowing that Dr. Rohrer knew his Lord and Savior, and is now with Him. We will all see him again on the other side.

But the void left is palpable. I pray that all the wonderful memories he leaves with and through all of you will bring comfort and healing.

God bless you all!!

Please accept our condolences as grateful former patients of Dr. Rohrer. Nobody did it better. And, his strong faith in God was evident: Our son had taken a soccer ball to the mouth just the day before his sister's appointment. Dr. Rohrer took his first (but not last...) look into Ben's mouth and said all looked OK. He explained the growth of a child's tooth to maturity and that it would tolerate some bumps that adult teeth would not. I said, "Wow, that's good engineering". He chuckled and replied, "the best"! May you find peace and comfort in God's promises during this difficult time.

It is with a sadden heart that I read the news in the paper. Myself & my 3 kids all have beautiful smiles straightened by Dr. Rohrer. I had started my orthodontia treatment as a teenager in my hometown of Winona with Charles's cousin Dr. Curtis Rohrer. This was a curious 'small world' tidbit of something in common -we spoke about at my initial treatments. He told me about how they were related & how he was somewhat familiar with Winona. Dr. C. Rohrer had such a friendly personality & sincere interest in his profession. He will be missed very much. Godbless you all.

Doug, Tina and Ashley Baker want to express our condolences to the Rohrer Family. Dr. Rohrer was a thoughtful, and well respected man. He always remembered our family when we came in to visit for braces, retainers or pre-surgery help. We really liked him. We are so sorry to hear about his passing. He will be missed.

Dr. Rohrer was a very special person to our family. Our son Danny was born with a cleft palate. He did such a
wonderful job of collaborating with all the other professional s
he needed to have for the smile he has today. He was so kind with his patients. Danny didn't mind going to see him. He always came out with a smile and not for just the reason he was there for. The office staff were wonderful. It was a place you knew people loved to work. We are sending blessings to all. He is a man who touched many.

Charlie added life and laughter to our Prince of Peace men's group Bible study years ago. His laughter was heard by us all. He was a great listener and a great story teller of some of his experiences in the "Teeth" dental business. I enjoyed Charlie's humor and companionship. After trust between us was established he even bought cars from me. Wow! what a challenge, but fun. I enjoyed the times we shared both in and out of the church. He was always very proud and protective of his family. Blessings to you Donna and to your entire family. There will be a brighter star in the sky looking over you all. Watch for it...it may even have a smile on it for you all.
Yours in Christ.

What an amazing man! My daughters Ashley and Amy Grace were patients of Dr. Rohrer's. Yes he kept reminding my daughters the importance of wearing their retainers! Dr. Rohrer always made Ashley and Amy feel Like they were part of his family and made them feel that they were important to him! My husband Jeff and I have recommended friends and family to Dr. Rohrer because we felt that he was so affectionate and caring towards his patients that there was no other option but Dr. Rohrer. There are certain people in our lives that will touch our lives forever and Dr. Charles Rohrer will be one of those special people in our families life that will live forever! May god bless your family and know that your husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in law and another way that he touched your lives is a blessing! Truly a special man and he will be missed!

I have been walking with a heavy heart all day long with the notice of Dr. Rohrers passing. He was a wonderful doctor to me and my daiughters. From the moment you walk into the office you can feel the kindness all around. I had my kids to other orthos to find the one we want and both girls picked Dr. Rohrer! He treated them like they were his own and gave them rules as if they were his own! He also got them to smile and not be so shy. He so proudly talked about his girls and his grandchildren. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

October 27, 2013

Thank you Dr. Rohrer for being the example to me and our girls....making everyone feel important.
They will all wear their retainers tonight in your honor :)

Dr. Rohrer (COR) has been my employer for close to 20 years,
but more than that, he was a second father figure to his staff. His caring ways, gentle nature and humor made him a joy to work with.
I've missed him tremendously over the last few months.
I have been so lucky to have had him in my life and to have been taught in the ortho field by one of the best.
He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
May god shine on his loving wife and family

October 27, 2013

It was with great sadness I received a phone call from my college daughter this morning about the passing of Dr. Rohrer. She, as well as my sons and many of their friends, were patients of Dr. Rohrer. He will be remembered by our family for his compassion, his graciousness, and his infectious and positive personality. If he ever had a bad day, we never saw it. His leadership and people skills overflowed on to his employees. Just by taking one step into his practice, one could instantly feel the positive energy continually on display from his staff. His love for his family also exuded from him. When we were in search of a good dentist in the area, we took a very valued recommendation from him. He was so proud of his daughters and our entire family found out why. Not only are they incredible dentists, but every visit with them is like a visit with their father. Dr. Rohrer, Thank you for the beautiful smiles you created as well as the hearts you touched. We are forever grateful. The Durst family.

I was one of Charlie's legacy patients. I just recently heard he was being treated for cancer. He was one of the lovely people on this planet and will be missed by so many. He was so kind and gentle with my son, Jimmy who has autism. He made things work. A passionate and compassionate person that I was so fortunate to have known.
