Charles Russell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.

Charles Robert Russell Jr., better known as "Chuck", was born on September 9, 1957 to Charles Sr.

and Mazel Russell.

Surviving are his brother; Wallace Russell, sister; Karen Campbell (Bobby) his two sons; Spencer (Juliana) and Cory, his wife; Kaye Corley Russell, and stepchildren; Amanda, Nathan (Stephanie) & Natalie and step-granddaughter Blakely Corley.

He retired from the Air National Guard and Savannah River Site.

Chuck fought a long 5 year battle with ALS before going home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2025.

A big, robust personality with a hearty laugh that could light up any room. Chuck had a deep love and devotion for his family & friends.

A genuine, funny and easy going guy who made sure he called loved ones on their birthday to serenade them or their voicemails with the entire happy birthday song in his loudest singing voice..

Even after his long battle with ALS his zest for life had the potential to turn anyone's day around.

A celebration of life to honor Chuck will be held at the American Legion Post 7, 211 Legion Drive, Lexington on April 5, 2025 from 1 to 5 pm.

Although we had only a few opportunities to spend time with Chuck, it was obvious what an amazing person he was. Even when he was facing a devastating illness, he was upbeat and positive. In addition, Chuck was truly blessed by Kaye´s devoted and unwavering care.

l am thankful for Mr. Russell´s career service to our nation in the Air National Guard and his career service at the Savannah River Site. It is patriots like Mr. Russell that served and worked to safeguard our freedom and liberty. I offer my sincere condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Dearest Kaye,
I could type a book about just how un selfish you really are. Chuck was your beloved husband and although it was heartbreaking you did everything in your ability to take care of him and love him. I remember asking you one time did the doctor give an estimated time, you looked at me and said I don´t know all I want is him to live....with tears in your eyes. I knew Chuck was a good person because you always told me Chuck is my person.
I wish I had lived in SC so I could have spent more time with you both, the one time I spent the day I just bent over and kissed his cheek!

I am so very sorry for everything you have been through, God has seen it all and you my sweet friend will be rewarded in Heaven.

I know Chuck wanted to see you, I know the amount of calls, emails, and text you sent that went ignored while he was in Florida however, we both know he absolutely could never reach out without help and that help was refused.

I wish you could have got your one last wish to see your husband and let him know you have and will always love him, I feel I know what he wanted to say to you.

Just remember the one phone call in the beginning with the code phrase he gave you.
`Kaye I´m sick´

Chuck is at peace, Chuck and healed in the arms of the Lord.

Because he lives I can face tomorrow!

I love you,
Debi Brandt-Hance
