Charles Teague Obituary
Charlie was born on August 29, 1930 to Homer Benjamin and Eva Geraldine "Gene" Teague in Sherman, TX. He attended the former North Texas State College (UNT), where he met his future wife. Overcome with her beauty and crossword skills, he married Shirley Jeanette Riney on April 10, 1954 in Denton, TX.
The second great love Charlie discovered in school was track & field. Assembling a powerhouse 440 relay team, he set speed and medal count records that remained untouched at North Texas for decades. After graduation Charlie split time between a new family, the National Guard, and the Dallas advertising firm TracyLocke, where he would work for the remainder of his career - crafting the Lay's, Elmer's, and Mrs. Baird's brands among others - before retiring as Vice President of Print Production in 1987. In retirement "Papa" tended a small East Texas farm and served as a volunteer in charities, schools, and churches as long as he was able and enthusiastically assigning himself the role of supervisor when he wasn't.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters Sandra Teague (Miles Wallack) and Leslie Teague Diamond (Rick), grandchildren Alex (Emily) and Caitlin Diamond, and sisters Patricia Teague Frazier and Carolyn Teague Coleman (Francis "F.A."). He was preceded by his brother James Durwood Teague.
A memorial service will be held June 30th, 2018 at 10 AM in his faith community, Journey IFC. In lieu of flowers, Charlie would have liked for you to make a donation in his name at www.journeyifc.com.
Aside from missing out on his traditional cup of homemade birthday punch, Papa's greatest regret is that he will not see the Dallas Cowboys win Super Bowl LIII. (Don't let him down, guys.)
