CHARLES MICHAEL WADE

CHARLES MICHAEL WADE 12/2/1950-12/1/2024 Charles Michael Wade (Mike), age 73, died unexpectedly on December 1, 2024 in his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Mike moved to Memphis in 2021 and was a regular attendee at Calvary Episcopal Church and later St. George's Episcopal Church. He believed in acts of service and often wrote letters to homebound people, and also provided rides to congregants to attend services. For a time he walked rescue dogs for Streetdog Foundation. Mike often said that he'd "lived many lives," and it was true. He was immensely proud of his Texas heritage and had lived in several parts of that great state. A graduate of Texas A&M and St. Mary's School of Law, he had been a District Attorney in West Texas for a time, then later practiced law in Conroe, Fort Worth and Brownwood. He enjoyed his adopted city of Memphis as well, and wrote about it once, noting, "Sometimes we don't know where home is until we get there." He loved playing his guitar and was an avid student of history. He enjoyed travel throughout his lifetime and his recent trip to Egypt truly captured his imagination. He read widely and constantly, and was passionate about his own writing, and several of his short stories appeared in various publications. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Charles Nisbett Wade and Annette. He is survived by his sons Justin, Nick (Barbara) and Max, grandchildren Hunter and Audrey, siblings Catherine, Melissa, John, and Stephanie, niece Lacee and Mike's long-time friend Janet Sever. Mike's was a restless soul that is now at peace. He will be deeply and forever missed by many. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a future date.
