Charlie Fabius Simpson

Charlie Fabius Simpson, age 85, was battling cancer when he passed away from injuries incurred from a fall. On February 12, 2023, he took his last breath shortly after celebrating his Super Bowl win as he was surrounded by family.

Charlie was born on December 13, 1937 in Staten Island, NY to Ottis and Zella Simpson. Charlie grew up on Staten Island, NY, attended public schools and played lots of baseball. Charlie graduated from Wagner College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in History. He received his commission in the Marine Corps in 1959 where he was an Infantry Captain. He spent most of his tour in Okinawa and the Philippines leading his troops. During the latter part of his USMC career, Charlie was stationed at the barracks at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he played baseball for the USMC. After active service, Charlie married his college sweetheart, Linda Dengel, in 1963 and began a family shortly thereafter. Charlie and Linda spent their married years living in South New Jersey, St. Louis, Missouri, and Lenexa, Kansas. In 1978, Charlie and Linda moved to Texas where they resided in Plano and McKinney for the remainder of their marriage. Charlie and Linda would have celebrated their 6oth wedding anniversary this June.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Linda, and their children - Teri, Chris & his spouse Carlene, and Jeff & his spouse Heather. Charlie is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and their spouses.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00am at the Bella Donna Chapel in McKinney, Texas. Charlie will be buried in the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
