OIL CITY — Charlotte P. Koerner of 1022 Central Ave. Ext., Oil City, died at 11:11 a.m., while being comforted by her loving family, on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at UPMC Hospital following a short illness.Born in Oil City, she was a daughter of Joseph Jasiota Sr. and Henrietta Lesniak Jasiota.Mrs. Koerner attended Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School for eight years and Oil City High School. She then attended Saint Vincent and completed her nursing training at West Penn in Pittsburgh.Mrs. Koerner worked as a registered nurse at West Penn, Shadyside and Oil City hospitals. She retired from Beverly Healthcare.She was married to George E. Koerner III, a well known pharmacist and business owner, on Nov. 21, 1953, at Assumption Church; he preceded her in death in 1993.She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Polish National Alliance, Elks Auxiliary, Pulaski Club, YWCA and Veterans of Foreign Wars.She had a great love for her children, homemaking, dancing evenings away with her husband, sharing stories with family and friends, and her home was always open to everyone. She was happiest in the company of friends and family.Charlotte was known for enjoying late nights of singing around the kitchen table, playing cards and Yahtzee. She always reached out to those in need. According to her children, she made the best pierogies and stuffed cabbage.Surviving is a brother, Bernard Jasiota of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Sister Mary Valerie, a resident at the Felician Convent in Coraopolis; and sisters-in-law, Joan Jasiota of Cleveland, Ohio, Jane Koerner Bechtel of Williamsburg, Va., and Louanne Koerner Lape of Oil City. Also surviving are her children, Deborah L. and her husband David Cramer of Oil City, George E. Koerner IV and his wife, Karen, of Meadville, David B. Koerner of Oil City, Suzanne Hughey Koerner of Columbus, Ohio, J. Kevin Koerner and Annette of Apex, N.C., and Anne R. and her husband Mark Flaherty of Oil City. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, David, Josh, Matt and Sarah Cramer, Brooke and Allyson Koerner, Benton, Michael, Emily and Thomas Koerner, Rachel and Alex Koerner, Jason Karns, Leslie Karns Pacior, Cullen Flaherty, Katie Morrow, Brynne Thompson and Daniel Flaherty; and nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mackenna Cramer, Jude, Case and Samuel Koerner, Charlie Koerner and Carleigh Gaertner, and Connor and Emma Morrow. She is also survived by dear friends, Pam Siegel, Sarah Moore, fiancé of Michael Koerner, and Rachel Dombrow who also cared for her during her illness.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, John and twin brother Chuck Jasiota; three sisters, Helen Szafran, and Celia and Mary Jasiota; a nephew, Bernie Szafran; most beloved grandson, Ryan Heath Koerner; and friend, Jim Jones.She was a lifelong resident of Oil City.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory, 116 Bissell Ave., Oil City, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church at 35 Pearl Ave., Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., with Father Matthew Ruyechan presiding.Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Oil City.Memorials may be made to the VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, Pa. 16323.
