Charmian Carl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 21, 2005.
Charmian Reynolds Carl died October 18, 2005 in St. Charles, Illinois after a brief illness. The oldest daughter of Norman & Hazel Reynolds, Charmian was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She would later attend Penn State University where she majored in journalism.

In 1945 she eloped to Winchester, Virginia to marry her childhood sweetheart, Joseph C. Carl. Joe and Charm moved to Midland, Texas in the late forties, where Joe worked as a geologist in the oil industry and Charm as an employment counselor for the state.

Charmian and Joe were parents to three children: Craig Reynolds Carl of Miami, Florida, Jeffrey Norman Carl of St. Charles, Illinois and Charmian Brooke Borisow of Los Angeles, California.

In the late sixties, Charm, Joe and the family moved back to their home state of Pennsylvania for about ten years, only to return to their adopted state of Texas after Joe was transferred.

After 53 years of marriage, Joe passed away in October of 1998. Charmian lived briefly in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Richmond, Virginia and finally, in St. Charles, Illinois.

She leaves behind a wonderful family. Sons Craig and Jeff, daughter Charmian and younger sister Patricia O'Shell of Scottsdale, Arizona. She was proud grandmother to three children: Kaitlyn and Austin Carl and Christina Borisow.

She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Diane and Helen and her son-in-law, Peter, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to your chosen charity in memory of Charmian R. Carl.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on October 22 at the Gilden Barton Funeral Home in Altoona, with friends being received between 10-11:00.
