Cheryl Denise Hillis, 52, of Cordova, Tennessee passed at her home early Wednesday morning December 16, 2015. She was born April 14, 1963 in Milton, Florida. She leaves her brother Michael Denton Hillis, life partner Kathy Jolene Stroud, daughter Kristina Marie Stroud and nephew Michael Denton Hillis, Jr. Preceded in death by her father Claude Denton Hillis, and mother Jean Marie Jolley Hillis. She also leaves her Uncle Richard Hillis, Uncle Ed and Donna Crosby, Uncle Ken and Mary Jolley, Aunt Ruth Jolley, Aunt Ola Jolley and many cousins. Cheryl attended Germantown High "Class of 1981", received two Masters Degrees and was employed as a Behavioral Analyst at MCK Behavioral Services of Bartlett. Cheryl was a gentle soul who looked at the world with childlike enthusiasm. Her playful smile brought a natural warmth of love and she intuitively had an ability of seeing another's qualities and provided positive affirmation. She was always honest and loyal, to a fault. However, Cheryl came from the heart and gave with an "all in" passion to her family, friends, clients, and animals. She carried an action seeking, vibrant energy whether see was hosting gatherings, experimenting with her love of cooking or exploring the unknown.

I've known Cheryl since she and my sister, Joanne Dierssen Balis, became great friends in high school many years ago. They remained life long friends so I've had the pleasure to know Cheryl all these years as well. I didn't know you were in such pain, my dear, and wish I could turn back the clock.
