Cheryl MYERS Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from May 1 to May 3, 2012.
MYERS, Cheryl Ann
(nee Evans-Rasmussen)
February 14, 1954 - April 29, 2012
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Cheryl passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012. She is survived by her husband Alan, her sons Rob (Andrea) and Curtis (Michelle), grandchildren Macy and Benjamin, sister Barb (Keith, Taylor, Austin) Webb, brother Bruce (Regan, Devon, Bryn) Rasmussen, sister-in-law Lorraine Myers (Elizabeth, Shannon, Brendon) as well as her Aunt Kathy Cathrea, Uncle Jim Cathrea and numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father Bob Evans, her mother Ruth Elaine Rasmussen, stepfather Eric Rasmussen and nephew Cale Rasmussen. Cheryl was, born in Meadow Lake and moved to Saskatoon as a young child. She later graduated from Evan Hardy Collegiate and went on to Robertson Secretarial School. During this time Cheryl and Al met and fell in love. They were married on January 26, 1974 and made their home in Saskatoon raising their two sons. Cheryl was an active member of the Saskatoon Kinette Club where she held many positions including president and was honored with a Life Membership in the Kinette Association which she was very proud of. Cheryl and Al made many great life long friendships through their association with Kinsmen and Kinettes. Cheryl's happiest moments were spent at the family cottage at Greig Lake, both as a young child and later as a wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbour to her favourite aunt Kathy, creating wonderful memories with extended family and friends. We will miss her courage, strength, deep loyalty and her gentle and caring nature. Cheryl's family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul's ER as well as the nurses and care givers working on 5th floor for their compassion and excellent care while Cheryl was hospitalized. Thank you to her internest Dr. Sylwestrowicz for his unending optimism and care for Cheryl. In lieu of flowers please consider donating blood, the gift of life, in Cheryl's memory. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Cathedral. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.

We were deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Cheryl's passing. I have such fond memories of times spent at Waskesui with Cheryl, Al, Barb & Keith and our Mom's who were best friends for years. I will always remember Cheryl's beauty inside & out, warmth, compassion, sense of humour and zest for life. Whenever our path's crossed, she was as warm & friendly as ever and she was so very proud of her boys, their families and their grandkids. She was taken from this earth far too soon. Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you Al & family, Barb & family and Bruce & family.

I was so shocked and saddened when my good friend let me know the sad news. I only went to school with Cheryl and Bruce for a few years at Hugh Cairns, but our mothers kept in touch for years. Cheryl was so beautiful inside and out, and I always admired her great relationship with Bruce and Barb. My thoughts and prayer are with all her nice family and friends, she will be so missed.

To: Cheryl's family and dear friends.

I'm so sad to hear of your loss. Cheryl and I got to know one another through Kinettes. She would always, always join us at the ‘Dinsmore' table during club functions and conventions. Cheryl was a beautiful, caring and fun loving person who received the highest award a Kinette can receive, and well deserved it. She was also very gifted. She knit a doll for our oldest grand daughter – our other grandchildren still play with it – that doll just became even more ‘special'. Although we haven't kept in touch during these past few years I have thought of her often and I'll never forget her wonderful laugh.

My heart felt sympathy to Al and the boys. I knew cheryl when she worked at Montgomery Elementry School, we shared many laughs, stories and good times together. She was great with the kids and was loved by many including myself. I have missed her in my life but thought/think of her often. She was a light put out too soon.

Al and Family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this devastating time. Cheryl brought us all a lot of laughs when she came in to spend time with us at the spa's. We laughed and laughed so much together!! We will miss her so much as she became such a big part of our spa family. I especially will miss her phone calls, just to talk and catch up with each other. She was witty, courageous and most of all caring! Rest in peace Cheryl. We love you.

My family and I were so shocked and saddened to hear about Cheryl's passing. Curtis and I were childhood rivals/friends in elementary school, and got to become good buddies in high school. I have great memories of spending time with he and his family during childhood birthday parties and hockey games, then getting to know Al & Cheryl as an adult. Cheryl & Al were always so warm and welcoming, they took a genuine interest in their children's friends. I've always felt very close to the Myers family even though I haven't seen Al, Rob or Curtis much in the last few years the connection remained. It was because Cheryl continued to take the time to come visit with my mother and I whenever she had the chance. She always talked about her family, her grandkids, and time she spent at the lake. I will really miss Cheryl and our chats. My heart aches for the family she has left behind. I'm so sorry Curtis, Rob, and Al. I'm thinking of you.
